Default changeing oil pump

do i have to take the motor out to change the oil pump :

And to get the sump off you need to pretty much have the motor out :p

You can also drop the front suspension and k frame if you have a way to hold the motor and body up. probably the easiest way in the long run.

Why ??? If oil pressure is low and over 200.000 I'd replace or overhaul engine...
Good sohc engines can be bought for under $1k even low klr AU engines....

The motor dosent have to come out. It didnt come out when I replaced the one in the AU.
And its a bigger job to get the sump off in an AU then it is in an E series as far as I know.(Ive never pulled the sump off an E series while still in the car) so dont quote me on it 100%.

Honestly, EBXR8240 has come up with a very good option, if your thinking of getting the pump fixed at your local mechanics it will work out more than buying a motor and dropping that in. I got quoted $1200(dodgy mechanic) upto $3000(Ford) for a new pump and labour to do it.

Its also cheaper for an aftermarket high volume pump rather than a genuine Ford pump.

problem is on the eseries is the k frame is one peice with a bar across the front that makes it impossible to get the sump off. its kinda locked in there. I know what you mean on the AU i've seen how theyre setup and it would be much easier.

Just sucks to own an eseries unfortunatly

if you've never done it then how do you know the engine doesn't have to come out?

i've done it with my car, the engine either has to come out, or the entire kframe dropped.
both involve an engine crane or other lifting equipment to hold the engine.

i'd recommend the kframe dropping idea, thats how i did mine and its fairly straight forward. no worrying about fluid/fuel lines etc, just big bolts that are easy to access.

i wouldnt bother with a high volume oil pump either. if you want more pressure put a tighter releif valve spring in it.

Volume is far better than pressure.....

question ebxr, how can a pump push more volume through the system without a pressure increase??

answer, it cant. by having tighter relief, the pump has to flow a higher volume to be able to increase the system pressure enough to open the spring

example. if 1l of oil will flow through a 5mm hole in one minute at 50psi, how do you make 1.5l of oil flow through that same hole in one minute, WITHOUT a pressure increase?????
