Hi all,
We just had our Mondeo serviced and my wife was advised that the throttle body is leaking and it’s recommended they replace the throttle body housing. Total cost $350. Are these an easy fix as I would of assumed a leak would just be a seal which I could do myself? |

It doesn't have a throttle body as such, being a common-rail diesel. What it does have is has an intake air shutoff throttle which doesn't look to have anything resembling a seal and which only has an impact when the engine isn't running.

I’ve just re read the paperwork and apparently the DSC warning is on when my wife starts the car but if you turn the car off and then on again it goes away.
The solution to this is the replacement of the throttle body housing as it’s leaking which causes the DSC light to come on. |

sounds sus to me, I'd be making sure the DSC error is the focus more to be fixed, cause I'm not sure what the shut off valve has to do with the fault.
Clean the leak and let it develop and monitor it, fix the actual DSC fault what ever the OBD2 code is. I'd be thinking ABS pump fault, or wheel speed sensor, but you need to know if the cruise control system is working and so on..best to get the code of the error if there is one. SCA can scan for codes for a small fee $14 or so.

As noted above, go and get a scan done and post the codes here and we'll see what we can help with but it's drawing a very long bow to link DSC with the throttle body.

Could be true, anything that affects engine performance will have an affect on DSC as the engine cannot be correctly controlled and thus DSC cannot be controlled from the engine side of things (ie cut engine power to control traction etc). Hard to diagnose just on the comments though..

So my wife had to take the car back in for another issue and she managed to get a copy of the fault error which I’ve listed the details below.
Description - P02E1 Diesel intake Air Flow A Control Performance Failure Type - 72 Actuator stuck open Status - 6C (Pending DTC) Fault has failed in the current or previous key/drive cycle. Diagnostic Protocol - 14229 Press I button help for additional information on 14229 DTC structure |
