just wondering how much i may be looking at for a set of xr door cards including power window switches. only after ball park figures. thinking of fitting them into the wagon. that way it gives me a reason to get power window regulators for the rear and run wiring for the rear switches

I called FTG auto salvage a while back to get an idea on how much they were. AU black interior door skins - $75 per door skins without switches.
Pity your not in Vic. I know of four black door skins for $220. |

I guess it goes to show I really havn't had a look up close at wagon doors then.

I have fitted Fairmont Ghia door trims to my wagon. The door trims are the same.

Good to know .... otherwise it would have cost Ford a fortune to make up a completely different shape/size door/trim as well ... that so me sounds about right for a larger car maker ... do it as cheap as possible ... keep everything the same.

excellent, so it is possible then. so if i set aside $300 that should cover it then you think? then all i need is rear window regulators (about $120 a pop i think arent they?) and all will be good

Trust me its a pain to get the wiring to work with the 4 way switch on the drivers door trim. It can be done. Speak to Stav he did my power windows.

well, while at the cleveland auto spectacular yesterday, it gave me a chance to take some notice of fairlane door skins and XR door cards. Im pleased to report that in fact, yes, the door cards are the same size through out, the difference between a fairlane/wagon door to a sedan door is the plastic moulding around the window reaches out further to the door card in the rear door. unfortunately i didnt think of taking pics at the time for comparison. perhaps next time i get a chance.... aslo as i said, the fairlane doors and wagon doors are identicle, so now im not limited to hunting for just a wagon door, makes sense really that they would be the same, both being LWB vehicles and all. my only real concern had been that perhaps the slope along the top edge of the frames might have been different, but they're not so yippee!!!! : :
so anyone else out there considering new doors/door cards, all door cards are interchangeable, all front doors are interchangeable, and rear wagon/fairlane doors are interchangeable. now all i have to do is run the wiring to through the wagon for power windows, get the door cards and new rear left door, and im a happy camper!!!! one question does remain though, the chrome strip around the windows of the fairlane doors. are they easy to remove? i woul;d assume they are and that removing it would return it to a base door. is the stripping a part of the rubber suround or is it sepperate? and lastly, does anyone know if there is a wiring diagrame for power windows for an au in here, or should i just ask stav if he could do a quick layout of what he did with chief? im good with electrical wiring, so ill be doing it myself, but help from someone who has done one before is always appreciated col

Sorry I can’t offer any advice at the moment but I will be watching this thread with interest, I am currently collecting the bits to do this as well.
I have the door cards and all the switches just need the regulators then I will have a crack at it . If I get there before you I will let you know how I go.

you should of asked me and i would have let ya have a good squiz at my cars insides!!
fern tree gully quoted me $750 for a full leather interior in black not sure if this included dash etc.. but i did stress the ENTIRE part in the question.. Smalls Wrecking at clontarf(around the corner from RDP) specialise in newer models etc and are reasonably priced!! they also have a website www.smallswrecking.com.au that they DO respond to emails from!! i have had good dealings with them
