I love RWD. but i have only ever owned front wheel drives.

Call me crazy but this white lightning reminds me of my first car. KB Laser Sports. pic below.

I traded it in for my current KJ laser, 2 1/2 years ago, and i still have dreams of me driving my old Laser.

I do miss this car. But i'd love to own a rwd to driff and have more excitement under controlled conditions. aaarrrrrhhhhhh the decisions.

i would love to have both, but i don't have enough space for 3 cars. not to mention that i live with my mum and dad, and the have 2 cars that = 5 cars to fit in a 2 car garage, our home would more likely look like a car park. lol :

Mazda 3, Ford Festiva and my KJ Laser.... you guess which one is left on the street ... Festiva.... So one more car would be comfortable

here is my KJ below.... sorry if its to big.

To be honest i was leaning towards the Laser. It is in a better condition inside and out than the Escort, and the Laser is $2,000 cheaper. only have to cut a little bit of rust out in the laser. Escort is a little rougher inside, but still in good nick, for its age.
Escort has rego till Aug 06, and the Laser March 07.
However the Idea of Fanging a car round sideways sounds really appealing to me. lol.

both cars are evenly matched..... in my eyes.

Escorts are a little more popular then the mighty laser, however, keeping the Laser as a sleeper and wiping the cheesy grin off those commondore drivers, sounds even better.
As Escorts do have a rep to be quick

so really i have no idea. I was thinking I might wait 12months, have to more $$$$ then see whats on the market.

No i didn't buy it..... i still haven't made my mind up.....

Tim there is a massive fan base of Lasers, i'll agree not as world known as the Escort. www.fordlaser.com is packed with Laser fans.

check it out you can even have a look at most of the members cars, they will turn your head.

Oh my god,I dont know how you could compare the 2,
Ive had/have both car and the laser is a piece of ИИИИ compared to the RS,The laser will rust and fall to peices around you,the escort has a race bread heritige, will be worth twice(being conservative) as much as the laser in 5 years and will still be going on that engine, the laser will be in a cloud of smoke on the rubish pile.

My laser was the same as the KB S in the photos,I sold my rally pack escort to get it fitted a twin cam to it spent a ИИИИ ;load and it was still no match for the escorts, one of my big mistakes.

i was only comparing the 2 on both condition and how much they want $$$$.

Did you know that Lasers also has a racing history aswell.... but not aswell known as the Escorts. As the lasers were a support race.
(did you know that was a big stepping stone for Mark Skaife.... i'll post the thread i postd awhile ago, below for you 2 look at)

http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=33591

The laser seems to be a better buy and more bang for your $$$$. Not only that i don't have to spend big $$$ in doing it up, cause its already done up.
as for the Escort there would be afew more $$$ to spend on it to get it at were i would like it to be..... and i don't really have those $$$$.

My old KB never caused me any troubles, unless i left the lights on and flattened the battery. :
It was strong, reliable, great on fuel, and the girls at school loved my car : ... maybe cause everyone else drove a VL commodore to school.

Not only will the Laser rust in 5 years the Escort will also rust 2. they are both 20yr old cars, of course they will rust. :

The Escort is for sale for $5,000
The Laser is for Sale for $2,000... plus balance of rego = $500 for 11months rego = $2,500.

Now the Escort is worth double the Laser NOW. so i'm going to pay double the price for the Laser now, to sell it for... double the price of the Laser in 5 years time..... it doesn't add up as there is NO advantage cause i'm paying double upfront.:

However i really do like the Escort, i loved driving it, its local and suits my needs, the Laser on the other hand is in Melbourne, haven't driven this Laser, but all so suits my needs. The only difference is i won't chew the back tyres off the rims. :nutsycuck :

You'll find I have been a member there for years... hehe. Have owned a few Lasers in our family over the years.... but still prefer the Escorts myself!

We even did a combined cruise with fordlaser.com and my local club, eurofordclub.com.

oh kewl. i didn't know you where a member on fordlaser.com, what other lasers did you own.

I was also looking at an 1985 Escort bout 2 months ago, 2 door 1.6 turbo... it was FWD. very very tidy however he wanted $15,000 for this very fine example of an escort. i will post a pic later, But to be honest i'd prefer a RWD car then a FWD, however i was compairing these 3 cars based on the whole package, not just cause its a RWD or a FWD. i was also looking at the aftermarket added extras, ie what had been done to it, and the white lightning Laser appears to be the better package.

BUT!

I might just wait 12 months, have some more money then see whats on the market. OR buy a real car... something that will shake, rattle and romp. ie a petrol guzzling V8, but i'll see whats on the market.

cheers

We had a 1994 KH Laser, manual, that car was such a reliable workhorse, got replaced by a Ford Focus. Currently the only Laser in the family now is my brothers manual 2001 KQ.

Good luck with your choice!

There is one locally, that is definate project material. MK1 rally car. Comes with 3 engines, 2ltr, 1.6 and a lotus twin cam. I was keen to get it for myself, but I already have 5 cars here... so another project would make it difficult!

It was around the $1600 mark, as of early this morning it hit $3951.
It closes tonight at 8pm.
Yeah - it would have been a good project for the $1600 mark, not at $3951.
