hi everyone.
was wondering what sort of larger trailer would be close enough to a van in size and weight would a car trailer be close enough or would you need furniture trailer. want to start towing a van and as still dont have a van you got to work around it and at moment only way is hire a larger trailer as no one has a van that cars rated to tow. finally got the transmission cooler put on the ba. am as most of you know are building trailer and got to hire a car trailer to take the old chassis away and wondered wether a car trailer with a old chassis loaded on is close enough to a van. even if you hired a car trailer and either had it empty or found something else to load would that be close enough. want the ed soon as so vans got to wait but when that happens am building one that looks like the old viscount duralvan but have newer tech that newer ones have. thanks |

WTF?
You don't own a caravan? And so because you don't have a caravan, you feel the urge to tow something else? Are you trying to test your car's performance as a tow-car? Is that it? So you want something to approximate a Caravan? IMHO, the biggest issues in towing a van are: 1) Braking. Unfortunately you can't really trial this, because most hire trailers will have illegal and usually non-functional over-riders. 2) Weight Distribution. By law you're only supposed to have 10% of te weight on the hitch, but if you have to choose, more is better than less. Vans can be rebalance by moving water tanks, gas bottles, and spare tyres. It can be hard to re-balance a car on a trailer, as you only have tow choices. 3) Side Winds, including those caused by passing trucks. A large covered furniture trailer would give you your best approximation of this, but they're smaller than most vans. 4) Drag. Most people think in terms of power to weight, but at highway speeds its the drag that kills you. Again, a tall covered trailer would be the best approximation.

It’s only since having a better car you can think about doing that and many other things

Hi
Want to have the chance to tow a van and don’t have one so got to come up with something close for now, would a car trailer with stuff in it be close enough to a medium size such as a vintage viscount or millard and have same effect. Most of you probably know that it’s only since changing to the ba as a daily car that you can start thinking about things |
