Default XB to XF conversion

just a quick and possibly stupid question (forgive me im a noob) my mate has an xb which hes done a bit of work on but he wants to sell the car, im thinking about purchasing it, but i just want to know if its possible of putting the motor from his xb into my xf panel van..... and how much would it cost.

if this isnt possible can anyone tell me a nice set up for an xf to get some decent power. thanks. phill.

it's very possible, my dad put a steel head XC falcon motor into his XF ute, it fitted straight in with no exhaust changes or nothing, but you have to use all the manifolds that are already on the XB, the alloy head ones are different, other than that it's the same as putting another XF motor in, just a straight swap.

Xb's heads are non cross flow, eg: Intake and exhaust are on the same side of the engine. Was not till XC did they start using the cross flow head. If you can't push more power from your XF compared to an XB, I'll give ford's away! :

Just to clarify a point, are we talking 6 cyl or V8 in the XB?

Can be done, and has been done legally. Clevo's in XF's and even E series Falcons are some examples that spring to mind.

Less emission hassles with a clevo if you convert to LPG.

Buy a wrecked XD/E and you will get a lot of parts you'd need.
