Default Excell question

being a goose at computers, this could be dangerous but...
have a copy of excell database email addresses and its all over the place like hookers knickers. I was given this as part of my job.
1st column.,. first names (mostly)
2nd column Surnames but no order

Can I swap columns around and also get surnames into alphabetical order.

Highlight all the cells (including column headers....eg Name, Address etc)
Then look at top of screen and you will find
Sort & Filter
Filter

You will then be able to click on the Headers and sort in alphabetical order.

I see the sorting has been answered.

To move the columns, highlight the column (click on the column letter, and the entire column should become greyed out). Right click, cut. Highlight (click on column letter) the column to the right of where you want to place the cut column, right click and select 'Insert cut cells'.

Hope that helps.

to sort not filter

highlight whole sheet (the square to the left of A and above row 1 highlights the whole sheet)

go to data on menu bar
sort (not the a-z option)

go to drop down
sort by
choose column you want sorted - then either a to z or z to a
enter and boom
