Oh dear ...Blue 202 decided to break a piston at 118,000 , gearbox mounting let go , rusted out the door skins , heater core went west , economy gauge quit and the dash creaked like a haunted house . Wore out tyres like a mongrel too . Was young and stupid and didn't know any better.. At the time Holden also had the Commie with a 4 cylinder four as well . My friend had that . Gutless is a compliment . We went to a golf tournament one time and I swear Paul changed down two gears every time we crossed over the centre line..What a rocketship that was. My car being white though it did have the advantage of not showing normal dirt as bad as many other colours . Black would indeed be difficult to keep spotless and they tell me they're very hard to get spot on if a panel repair is required . Geez they look spectacular when everything is right though.. Heres one for the experts,this ute i used to see a fair bit was one of those Chameleon colours,looks similar to the pic DFB posted but wasnt,pic taken on phone doesnt show it but when being driven around in different lights it went vastly different,was that ever a factory colour from Ford?

It will either be Venom or Vixen depending on the month/year. Vixen had more orange in it than Venom.

A few got it but yes the green is called Swift and the purple was called Vibe. Vibe was actually available on both BA MK II and BF.

The xr6turbo forums have a great colour thread (mainly b series on I guess)
https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/36239-colours/ My ea was I thought champagne beige but it's something else along that bronzey tan metallic (I've forgot now) the eb was emerald green, the EL was sapphire red, and unfortunately the BA was shockwave. I really miss colours on the road, ford had some of the best. The last holden I had was a VZ in that olive drab greenish ****. E: martini mica , yuck. But BMWs had some nice blues and greens in the past, Mazda had some nice ones too. It's too bad most people are going toyota or Korean because they have no clue when it comes to colours. It's sad that nearly everything is silver, grey, black or white now from most euros, most of what we see on the road is boring these days and that's one thing most people never thought of when ford stopped making falcons here. Memorable note was Meteorite in AU. Was such a classy charcoal on the XR shapes.

Only on XR models as well.
Not on any FPV due to paint matching issues after rolling off the production line before going over to the FPV factory.

Mystique was a green / blue. Fordomatics previous FG XR6T was Mystique. Top colour when detailed to the nth degree.

Unlike Bloody Orange, Manderin and a few other colours which were poorly matched. The plastic on FPV bumpers must be slicker than that used on the normal XR..hehe

I desperately wanted one when they first came out but ended up buying an XR6T in Silhouette at the auctions instead. I've actually never bought a car in my first choice colour. I wanted an emerald green (can't remember the official colour) KH laser for my first car. Went to the auctions & there were 2 of those & 2 red ones. I ended up with one of the red ones (because both of the emerald green ones were 1.8 litres that exceeded my budget on the day). I wanted a velocity blue BA XR6 Falcon & bought an XR6T in Silhoutte instead. Being a turbo & considerably cheaper at auction it seemed like much better value. Then after 12 years of driving a black falcon, I wanted a white one & ended up buying one in petroleum (which looks very similar to the black one I previously owned). When I eventually move onto a mustang, one of my goals will be to buy it in whatever my first choice colour is at the time. I'd like to think I could do that on what will be my fourth attempt. Blood Orange was another great colour from the BA Falcon days. There was an XR8 in that colour at the auctions when I bought my XR6T. It certainly stood out!

So just when you thought we had something unique, and granted FoA was not near the first company to officially do it I found this;
https://www.gatewayclassiccars.com/H...g-Mystic-Cobra 1996! I feel cheated.

I like that BluePrint colour too. Stands out.
But Black is still my go to colour for almost any car unless something really grabs me (plus wheel colour can impact choice etc) |

Actually went for a drive an hour ago and there was a BA XR Ute on road (going way too fast......i was doing 115 and went past like I was standing still - 160plus).
Then at lights we caught up and had Plazmaman stickers etc so a tuned T Barra. Young bloke and girl in it. Was a Bright Lime Green colour with white alloys. Too out there for me and not sure if a Ford standard colour but it stood out (in a good or bad way depending on your taste) |
