Hi
Have a question, was wondering what causes interference in a cars fm radio when plugging phone into charge or using accessories. Have a ba as most you’s know and there’s interference on fm when charging phone and using accessories Now have a aftermarket stereo with aftermarket antenna but was doing it before on factory one with factory antenna Have done following 1. Aftermarket radio which is pioneer s720dab (have used the old acc socket wire for the earth and accessories power, and the phone plug constant for the constant memory power) 2. Grounded am/fm antenna which is a gme aem3 and also the uhf radio antenna as it also has a uhf radio too 3. Using a am/fm/dab splitter, interference was there before that. Was wondering wether getting a glass antenna for back window and combining it with the whip antenna would be worth doing or get another booster, don’t know if the dab splitter is even a booster as well. There’s no interference on local copper coast station only adelaide and can pick up adelaide in kadina sometimes and guess it’s because the signal is so weak that it doesn’t take much. The reception in the aunts santa fe is near perfect event at office beach wallaroo. If anyone could help with answers that would be great Thanks |

Hi,
It is the cheap accessories that produce the noise. The accessories such as phone charger contains circuits that 'switches' on quite high frequencies, and this noise will be picked up by the radio, it could be by the radio itself, or by the amplifier that picks up the noise and amplifies it. Cheers, |
