XR8 New Sump Advice Please

I have been having an ongoing issue with my sump leaking from the bolt. Tried everything including getting a new thread put in etc. Time to replace the sump.

Just wondering Is an Alloy Sump better or is there a better sump since I need to go to all this effort to replace it or do I just get a standard one?

Sump PLUG bolt. I have put a new thread in it and everything but because the steel is so thin, about 2mm, the tread doesnt hold and keeps stipping.

Have a suitably sized flat nut welded onto the inside that take the sump plug thread. Or just secure a hollow brass fitting from Bunnings or Supercheap etc with a flat nut same as I did when retro-fitting a drain plug into various trans mission per pics attached. As you can see, this one on my NB Fairlane has scraped or grounded on kerbs etc from time to time but has still held fast for 20 years odd with no leaks.

Problem with that is I still have to take the sump out. So I thought since I had to go to all that trouble, I may as well just replace it.

Cast alloy ones cool better (at least in theory but it's probably marginal) and look schmick but can catastrophically crack rather than dent if you hit something accidentally.
