Hi Guys,
Just want to check if it is me going crazy spending too much time in the AU, or is the heater/dash fan becoming weaker with age? I used to be able to hear it on speed '2' but now I struggle to hear even speed '3' and have to have it on '4' to get any decent air flow. Is this a known issue? how can I fix it? |

Is the fan still working on the lower speeds? If yes, it is likely that the Evaporator is becoming clogged, with dust, hair and *****. Not an easy repair. Got the same issue btw!

Yes the fan still works on 1 and 2 but you can barely feel it. I will check the cabin filter but I don't hold much hope, my car is spotless inside so why would it be clogged?

I pulled the dash from mine and was none the wiser. Need to attack it from the underbonnet side I believe.

There's no cabin filter in AU's
The blower unit is visible when you take the glovebox out, however it is a dash-out job to replace it. This was rectified with the BA's and onwards. AU falcon fan performance is unbelievably dismal at the best of times. It's sad when mid size jap econoboxes 10 years older than it have massively superior fan performance

Almost eight years since last post on this topic. Anyway, I still got an Au and still got similar fan issue. Perhaps, I will check vacuum switch one day. Kind regards, George V |
