Well, it still meets my criteria. Very impressive condition, even if photos are very low resolution. Looks like it doesn't have air conditioning (!!) as I don't see an A/C button anywhere. I believe it was optional at the time, even on the Ghia. There seems to be a blank button next to the temperature controls, where an air conditioning button would normally be. I wonder if you could get one retrofitted?
In any case, the '92 Holden, for me, still has far more appeal than this. There's really no comparison... even that silver colour is boring. Any old car will look good in silver because it doesn't really age.

That one doesn't meet the criteria because it's been restored. Therefore it's not in original condition. Even the engine has been swapped out!

To be brutally honest I couldn't have got excited about this car when brand new and my enthusiasm has not grown with age. Just another run of the mill commodore, sorry.

Mum has the 626 version of that Telstar, has an A/C button where that blank is. Buyer must have weighed up whether to be lazy and option auto, or be comfortable and get A/C. I would have gone the latter!

I had an 83 626 and it even had cruise control. Mum's one doesn't.

My parents and grandparents both bought 626s brand-new in 1983. Identical hatchbacks, one was green the other yellow:

Definitely no cruise control. No power windows either, but it did have air conditioning, I think.

I had an 2.0 84 Telstar Ghia sedan with a 3 speed auto, A/C and the velvet interior. Not the quickest car. It was luxury after my 180B.

The 626 and Telstar hatches were nice cars in there day.

Ford had a turbo Telstar based on the Mazda platform.

problem with base spec granny specials is that if you buy one for top dollar and then you do the smallest bit of damage or start leaving it in the sun and a piece of plastic cracks , leave it unwashed or just dirty then its just another POS base spec old car worth not much

i had a low km granny spec AU1, garaged all its life, receipts for everything, perfect rubbers/seals, perfect trim and then some w@nker backed into it and to him it was just a POS AU falcon. I spent almost as much as the car cost me to fix it up again however i did sell it for triple what i paid

if one of these granny spec cars interests you keep it in the garage and just admire it don't use it
