Issue is progressing.

NSW Police Force advise they can, and do - enforce the DPI's state forest 60km/h limit, and like I, are aware of the issue regarding ceasing of this limit at park exit points.

Police view is DPI are within their rights to post a limit they see fit, as property administrators. They remind that speed-limits no longer need be gazetted in parliament.

Some inter agency conflict here, and I am involving each, and will be discussing the matter with DPI's roads fella Friday. Then ministers.

Odds on, that our NSW Premier will need to remind government agencies just who it is that sets enforceable law.

This is the ATSB's study into all that. Progress is slow, as the nations candidate roads are to be bought up to standard, and vehicle stuff etc.

My median located U-Turn bay stuff relates to all that. We need time, money and political love:-)

Keepleft, thanks for looking into this. You are right, there are no "end 60" signs, and the sign entering the 60 zone does say "60 area".
Shouldnt these 60 signs be yellow advisorys? That would be much better, then if you look like you are driving dangerously, you could still be pinged if needed by the cops.

I hate all the nannying, then extreme penalties for doing what we always have normally done, just for the lowest common denominator.

You will find in other countries where there is less nannying, many drivers will stop driving if their skills arent up to scratch. Would be a great thing if we actually needed some "skill" here in australia by using higher speeds. I think then we would see many many older and not so talented drivers off the roads as they wouldnt want to drive in such place. Look at Germany and France, just been there the other month, you will find not that many oldies on the road at all! They know they dont have the skills.

I wish , perhaps i should rephrase the question. Do the points and automatic suspension apply to interstate drivers? A long time ago if you were caught you paid the fine and there was no points lost on your interstate licence.Has this changed is what i'm asking. Appreciate the smart a.. reply though.

This particlular Road is called Brindabella Road, seems to be in the Yass Valley council. It is to the west of Canberra.

The "60 AREA" signs are cataloged R4-10,s. My local state forest are using R4-1,s - which are the regular speed limit signs. Seems DPI folk are using a mixture of signs, but of course are not ceasing their speed limit at exit points as required.

DPI head advises they have imposed the 60km/h speed limit on safety grounds, with the exception of some sealed roads which carry higher speed limits. Gentleman is adamant they won't budge on this.

He advises they have installed the 60km/h speed limit on the basis of the NSW "Forestry Act No 55" under "Section 41 regulations".

RTA concede at this point they cannot force a change, as they can with say a Council imposed limit. (Councils 'exist' because of an Act of State Parliament, and this aspect should NEVER change).

I have had RTA organize to notify DPI to install END 60 speed signs, or speed signs that reflect the posted inbound limit beyond the state park gate, as is their responsibility.

Issue progresses; the only chance beyond this, if it gets to that, is to involve your local MP by way of complaint. Going to put feelers out today about this.
