My 2010 Zetec has been performing like a new car even with 245K on the clock.
Yesterday no problems and went to do a shop this morning only to find the key won't turn, the shift lever seems stuck and can't select another position. Steering wheel seems frozen as if no key in the ignition. What would cause this and more importantly a suggested fix please? Door locks work and just can't get the key to turn. Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

It seems to be stuck in Park.
Never did anything different parking it yesterday. Same as I have for over 5 years. Any ideas?

Will try that in a minute. The wheel did not want to move but will try harder this time.
Thx

No guarantees, but its always best to start small before jumping to conclusions. A lot of cars have a shift lock so without the key in they lock it in park. Thats not unusual. A Mitsubishi i had wouldnt let you take the key out if it wasnt in park either.

Thank you very much that worked.
Initially nothing then yanked it hard one hand whilst trying the key. Relief and now can stop looking to upgrade this beautiful beast.

I've had something similar happen and remember that it was quite an effort to turn the wheel to release the steering lock.
