Good afternoon all,
Come across a 'DIY' engine management system based on the Arduino platform called 'Speeduino' - that's home grown here in Australia. Appears to offer basic engine management functions at a pretty low price (Assembled Speeduino board is $160 + Arduino cost) compared to the common aftermarket solutions on the market, it's aimed more towards the hands on DIY crowd. The v0.4 variation appears to provide 4 injector and 4 ignition outputs, could be used on an 8 cylinder engine for an EFI conversion set up as wasted spark ignition and semi sequential multi point injection (injectors paired). All my cars are stock sadly. Don't spend much on them any more. But I've come across it a few times in BMW forums. eg:

But most car groups have speeduino talk in reddit so definitely search there foe more info (but the format sucks so I'm not a user) https://www.reddit.com/r/ECU_Tuning/...ywj/speeduino/ In short: seems to have a lot of enthusiasm for the budget mazda mx5 and bmw E30 crowd. More common to find people using Megasquirt in the USA as their 'go to' and many people with BMWs here use US parts and ideas so likewise tend to megasquirt. I'd love a couple of spare k to do manual trans conversions and haltech EFIs like I did in the 90s with my rotaries when I was cashed up. |

If I had an older 1980s car again I'd probably give Speeduino a crack over the usual options.

Yeah, if I had a home and some spare money I'd be trying to get a e32/e34 735i/535i and they're just begging for a turbo, as we know from the fastest production 4 door car of the 80s BMW E34 based alpina B10 bi-turbo (E: more power and torque from a turbo 3.4L than the xy gtho, even 30 years ago.)
The M30 loves turbos as much as the barra so I'd have to be looking at aftermarket EFI controller and turboing any M30 BMW I found. Last edited by oldel; 08-05-2021 at 12:06 AM. |

mate has run one on a mx5 for a couple of years, car is modified. but not his daily
