I have a AU 3 VCT XR6 and doing 80 into a corner the car handles the turn easy. You can do a 100 with no hassle at all.

No I just said my AU handles the corners well at 80 and 100.

I like the ST170. Looks nice. Always liked the focus. Decided it was good value for money, so we went and got one. Took it for a drive and was hooked. Some pretty decent deals at the moment.

Being a turbocharged Focus, this ST is more in line with the old RS Focus. Good to see Geoff Polites doing Ford proud in Europe (even though his imput into this car would have been minimal, as the R+D is done years beforehand).

Whats the chances of getting either this or the new turbo diesel here in Oz... I'd consider either of them.

Yes and if the the Ford dealerships had their prices in 2002/03 like they are now maybe myself being mainly a Ford person and others that purchased Corollas, Pulsas, Accents, Civic's, Mazdas & VW polo's might be driving
Focus's.
Buy the way a bit of stirring with my comment the current Focus sucks just intrested to read the responses on loyal Focus owners to make things a bit intresting on this post, Its acutally not a bad car but overpriced when it first hit the showrooms and that was mainly my decision to go Mazda.
Yes I do think the replacement model looks real neat.

And if comments like this arise again they will be removed as we dont need this kind of shit stirring here just " to make it interesting"

Dude, congrats on the job....I guess now the CL will be the Sunday cruiser?

As for teh ST dont hold your breath, if the base focus is only going to make it out here mid year I, and the ST isnt even out in the UK yet we will be a while...I am just guessing on that but to me sounds logical.

so I guess cruises are going to be a hit or miss thing for you for a while?

I reckon one of those Fiesta ST150's would go great, but I like a mid size so Focus is more my liking, depending on the MRs front I might try and swindle one of the new Foci when they come out, probably not a 3 door next as the Mrs wants room to put the kids and dogs (3 door makes that a little impractical)

If a ST Fiesta is hot, then this Focus ST should be absolutely on fire with a 5 cylinder Turbo!!!!!!!! Love the interior, the colour is out of this world, the rims are hot and that dual exit exhaust... mmmm... it looks absolutely awesome without being overdone. Can I be third in line please?!!!!

5 cylinder turbo?? Doesnt a Volvo S60 R use a 5 pot T engine?? And doesnt Ford own Volvo.... So that could possibly mean that the engine ia a Volvo with a Ford Duratec Sticker slapped on!! A car half Ford, half volvo..... not a pure breed, a hybrid...
HHHMMMM, BLODDY VOLVO DRIVERS!!! :

Oh well, none the less, when i saw the pic of the turbo gauge the other day, i thought that this post would suddenly get everyone excited about the new ST. Lets hope it still gets here, even if half Volvo :P

Nothing wrong with Volvos! The S40 T5 is a great car, I'd own one, and I'd be proud to have its engine!

in reality the gap in performance between fwd and rwd is really next to nothing these days incomparison to previous years. fwd performance cars are not the crazy change lanes torque steer and stupid understeer through corners as they used to be. especially in focus terms....i find i have to push my zetec pretty damn hard to get her to understeer, and when she does, traction control put her back on course with very little loss of speed. i imagine the same is true for rwd oversteer.

Yep, it's a Volvo T5 engine with a Duratec head cover.

No market is confirmed outside of Europe for the ST. I with with baited breath

A variation of the S60R engine will go into the Volvo S40/V50R and into the RS, I imagine.
