I have to admit if I was to go down the turbo path my first choice would be back into a G6ET as a FG II or go a ex NSW highway patrol XR6T only for the factory brembos

This topic pops up from time to time in the forum. For a hard headed look at the topic from a pure money making exercise, may I point you to a response I wrote back in 2013.

If it is the later, go right ahead and buy a G6E or XRT6. Drive it. Enjoy it. However, if it is for a financial investment, then may I suggest getting some solid financial advice from a professional before sinking hard earned dollars into a car. |

I've got no interest in making money on a vehicle, I'm just happy to enjoy driving our cars, it's a bonus that they might not drop in value too much when the time comes to sell, if I was smart I'd sell off the cars and clear the home loan but I'm just a dumb tradie who likes cars haha

Re the OP question, I guess the XR6T would be the one more pref to buyers purely on the base's a base model (bang for buck) and alot more made than G6E's I expect.
Thats a hunch for someone like me, the G6ET is farfar more desirable, again comes down to what you can afford. Were on a Enthusiasts sit yer, can anyone in here tell me you consider the rego/insurance running costs when buying Falcons over all your years ? new or 2nd hand. Are these things your real concerns when buying ? and more so if your fortunate to have more than 1 Falcon ? Life is to live your a long time dead. Be it you have 1 car or more, the annual costs imo are like putting undies and BO deoderant on everyday. IDGAF about that annual cost its already in my head its a given same as property the mention. You can't avoid those incurring costs just work and live with it, it is what it is. It comes down to what you can afford, your priorites, lifes Uturns yaddayaddayadda. The general money makers on cars are high end and LE's like HO's etc, the other factor these people are making or made awesum income in the first place. Were talking about day to day volume product that goes through highs lows and alot of luck IF your thinking might make a buck one day, forget it get on with life. Live long and prosper fellas, I hardly see a excited bean counter and I'd prefer being an Enthusiast having my pride and joys costing X amount of annual dollars for the privelidge.

I have told this story before ... but it is worth telling again. One of my apprentices had a XC 302 Cobra. It was converted to run on LPG by its previous owner due to fuel costs. The apprentice bought it for $8K and offloaded it a few years later for $5K around 1986 (running costs was too much). The apprentice has gone on to become a successful businessman, and occasionally kicks himself for letting the Cobra go. These days, a nice 302 Cobra is around $130K, and it has lots of street cred. But, take out 35 years of comprehensive car insurance on a V8 performance car and 35 years of rego, the equations don't look so sweet. Own it to enjoy driving it. |
