Without going into any detail of an alleged incident, are Mobile speed cameras permitted under their operating laws/regulations to be placed on the slope or at the bottom crest of hill, facing downhill?
I believed it is not permitted, but cannot find any details on it.

Well my mate got done down a hill. 142kmph loss of license 6 months. If you get done overtaking ask the copper for a photo to prove that your speeding and not the other car.

I believe also that the cars with camera's placed in them must be no further than 100mm from the curb?

It would appear that im out of luck. The road safety website indicates that they have the authority to place then anywhere, even at the bottom of a hill if the road has a consistant speed problem.

Recently some one got done by a mobile speed camera on a car parked in a bus zone.
This person who got caught for speeding took a pic of the car in the bus zone but all that happended after it was reported was that the car (mobile speed camera) got a parking fine and all the cars that it caught speeding were still fined. ALSO my dad's mate who is a lawyer came across a mobile speed camera parked on a hill facing downwards, he pulled over and told the operator that it is illegal for a mobile speed camera ona hill - the operator said yes it is but they are only fining people going over the speed limit excessively not by 1klm or the like

On this subject, I have a contact in the fleet sales business who has just sold Tennex (not sure of the spelling) 20 brand new Corolla wagons that are being converted to mobile speed cameras. Aparently these Corollas will be converted to a level that will nearly be impossible to detect them at all.
Be careful all Victorian forum members with the Government using tactics like the above. Cheers, Hally |

Well, im not sure type of unit was being operated, it was simply a car parked on the side of the road with the flash unit out the front. What equipment do they operate.
