Default 240V Light Bulb Socket Extensions

Are these legal in Australia? B22 and E27 male-female straight extensions with effective length around 65mm?

The places that sell them seem flaky; you find them on Amazon, dhgate, those sort of online flea markets.

Looking at them as a budget way to bring standard LED globes closer to the ceiling in deeply recessed downlights.

Can you not get them at hardware or lighting stores?
Mum's house has heaps which were put in probably 30 years ago for the same reason as yours (9ft ceilings)
Either that or make your own.

Giving the non-Australian standard imported stuff a miss is a good idea I think.

If you are installing them for your work and they are not approved or certified I would steer clear of them.

Is anything available locally?

They’re not going on a paying gig, so I’m clear there. My brief for others’ electricals stops at globes, starters, lampshades etc. I can’t find anything equivalent from a reputable outlet - which makes me wonder if they’re physically unable to comply with our Standards.

If in doubt contact your State electrical regulator as they will advise you.

Personally I recommend have new lights fitted for your purpose as I find adapters & extenders pose a fire risk.

Sorry, misread. Thought you said 65cm, not 65mm
