So the great news is a Ford Raptor V8 does exist and was seen in person at the factory.
Whether it was a one off or a pre production test we dont know. But at least we know the Supercharged Coyote does indeed fit and could be an option after all. Maybe the other website was right all along, but were silenced by ford. |

Thanks Simon. That makes sense. So as it’s so late in the current ranger cycle and they won’t want to spend money they can’t recover, I guess we wait for the new platform. So my thinking is it s a year and half away from the new ranger platform, then the raptor will follow that as a halo model say 6 months to a year down the track. So we are looking at least 2 years -3 years for any chance of a v8 Raptor. And by then it’s most likely to have a 2.7 twin turbo petrol instead of a coyote anyway. So unlikely we will Ever see one at all anymore. And before then we will have a RAM TRX which is already confirmed , DT ram 1500 on sale in aus Before then . So ford loses more of the market that has a disposable $100k+ as they will shop elsewhere before then.

$170,000 sounds about right from the rough figures.
That being said it, leaves a lot of wiggle room for a V8 Raptor to slot in well underneath. So much room that they could even do a supercharged one way under that.

One of my customers has an F150 Shelby Super Snake. 750hp supercharged coyote.
Red with the white stripes. Big vehicle. Big, big bucks though. Crazy money really. First time I have ever seen one in Aus.

Watching earlier videos on that conversion, its 56k and you also have to supply the rapter too, but they use a new crate motor so thats a bonus. The test mule is a stat writeoff so cannot be registered. But a proper non writeoff rapter can be regoed with that conversion. Apparently the 5L is comparable in weight to the diesiels too.

I think it only cost $35k to convert a Colorado to a supercharged LS.

The best value was the Harrop Colorado V8 Superado. I don’t think they are doing them anymore with a lack of utes
They were charging. $44k drive in drive out for supercharged LS3 swap to your new Colorado. ( non supercharged just ls3 was $37k) all electrics working , inc 4WD They re used the base loom from the same guys that are now doing the Ford Ranger raptor v8 in the videos. Apparently they were breaking a few drive shafts though. Lol |

They must have put the price up because they quoted me just over $43k back in Feb. It included the following...
The process includes the following: *New crate engine *Mated to your original 6R80 auto transmission, which is upgraded to V8 mustang specification *Full electronics integration *New exhaust system. Ceramic coated headers into a twin 3” exhaust system. *New air intake system *New air conditioning system *Fuel system *Full compliance *Standard brakes are retained, Upgrades are optional |

That sounds about right Naddis01, the $35-$37k was a base create ls3 swap. If you wanted the harrop supercharged engine it was $44k. Upgraded Brakes, etc all on top of that.

It would be interesting to hear how many hours of labour it would take to say swap a Coyote v8 into a Ford Ranger Raptor. And how efficient they could make the process. The price would be directly related to that + create engine
Apparently the left to right hand drive conversion of the Ram 1500's at Walkinshaw is now down to 66 hours per vehicle for re manufacturing . Some of the other left to right conversion there are taking over 110 hours they said. It all academic anyway now, Seems like ford will go for the twin turbo V6 into the Raptor. Probably give pretty close performance to the v8. Down a bit on power but good torque. Then watch the after-maket get hold of it and crack the ecu ( or run a piggyback) they wind the boost way up and probably surpass the coyotes power output ( and yes lose your warranty). Bring it on I say. |

The 2.7 EB is pumped to 405 hp @ 5,700 and 503 lb ft @ 3,900 |
