Default Need a mechanic - Canberra

Need a knowledgeable member/mechanic that’s interested in looking at a BA that won’t start (backfiring), paid job of course. New battery, plugs and factory coils fitted but no change. Apologies if this is the wrong section to ask this.

Hi sprintman.

Might get more responses in the AU-BF forum.

Is the car on dedicated gas or dual fuel ???

Does the car start then immediately stall ??

Cheers.

I’d suggest checking the mechanical timing if all external issues are run to ground.

Petrol. Random firing doesn’t actually start

Hi There.

1. Any mechanical work done recently ?? As Citroen said. The timing may be off. Especially with the backfire on a petrol engine.

2. My initial thought was a bad vacuum leak. Although the car should start, then stall.

3. Immobiliser light out before cranking ??

4. Check for spark.

5. Get noid light to see if injectors are "firing"

6. Fuel pump, filter OK ??

7. Crank Position Sensor.

8. Check battery voltage with multimeter. When cranking if voltage drops below a certain point, the computer will shut off. Varies with different cars / brands etc.

Can't do much more without seeing in person.

Sorry.

All the best.

Just another thought.

The coil pack plugs are on the correct cylinder (s). No offense.

Cables are pretty much set in position. It had the same problem before plugs/coils replaced.

Blocked cat?

Unbolt the exhaust from the manifold and see if it will start.

Why would that happen like overnight? Drive fine then next morning wouldn’t start.
