Takes me back to a simpler time when modded Falcons had sleeper 460 big blocks and
if you were lucky, you could bore the standard block to 4.44” and add a 4.25” crank.

If we consider just the big 3, id say a big block starts at 4.80" bore space, which is the chrysler/dodge big blocks and hemis.

Out of the big 3, the mopar/chrysler big block is the smallest big block, with a 4.80" bore space. Big chevy is 4.84" and Ford is the largest with 4.9"

Generally anything over 400ci is considered a big block but it also has to do with bore/bore spacing and deck height ;)

It can get a little confusing though as there were "big blocks" with under 400ci and small blocks over 400ci

Even more so these days where you can get huge overbores and stroker kits for say a small block Chev to take it up to 454ci or a 351 Windsor to 460ci ;)

Fords V8's varied quite a bit, the Windsor small block went from 221-427ci, the 385 big block went from 370-514ci, the 335 Cleveland went from 302-400ci and that is just in factory sizing's before any aftermarket boring/stroker kits
