Could anyone have guessed Ford would back in the top 3 and regularity having the number one seller just a few years ago?

Granted, the bulk of sales come from one or two models, but a sale is a sale.

Sad part is if they actually had stock of focus and escape they would sell. They are also horrendously low on Mustang stock vs orders.

In saying that however Toyota could probably sell another 5000 units a month if they could supply stock!

These are definitely weird times, tight supply of new vehicles has killed any ideas of discount
and good used vehicle prices are mich higher than last year………

Ford must be getting some supply confidence with Puma. Seen the odd advt start to appear again and actually started seeing them out and about more regularly now. Even saw a couple of Escapes on the weekend which I think is the first time I've seen others since getting ours.

Hopefully the chip shortage issue gets sorted soon.

I wonder where all these Puma's go. I see them so rarely. Unless they are flying under the radar and I don't even notice.

Back when dealers were open the one ford dealer I visited had a heap of Puma's in stock could be a case of dealers registering them

They changed the rules on that. Dealer registered cars no longer count as sales?

The interesting thing is the race for no 1 seller for the year. Ranger is only about 3000 sales behind Hilux, and they are going to have severe shortages due to the semi-conductor issue, so Ranger is a sneaky chance of overtaking Hilux for the year. Depends on how low Toyota's supply of Hilux is.

Would be a great selling tool for P703 if Ranger was the highest selling vehicle in 2021, in it's last year of production for the P375.

I read an article recently saying Toyota were struggling big time with the new 300 series... Maybe it uses more semi conductors than other models. I think the article suggested that by trying to meet demand with the 300 other models may suffer.

It's not cause of the 300. It's just finally caught up with them. Initially they had a big stockpile of chips, and they didn't have too many issues, but the stockpile is gone and they are now struggling to get them like everyone else.

The Landcruiser doesn't exactly sell in high numbers anyway, not when you compare it to the Camry, Corolla etc. It's not going to be a drain on supply.

Surprising to see the Ranger still going so strong as we get closer to the new model, don’t get me wrong they are a good option but if I were dropping 60K+ I’d be getting more uncomfortable by the day with what the new version may offer.

One of the articles I read stated no RHD Landcruisers were going to be built for two months which also obviously effects Oz. Maybe prioritising MidEast and US markets.

I guess this is where fleet sales become valuable.

Private customers will be happy to wait out for the new model, fleets still need to renew their vehicles at set stages.

Many question Ford for their reliance on one model, but being a commercial product means they will be less likely to get the same lull a car like the Falcon once did on the eve of a new model.

If anyone is interested (we have a thread in the Escape forum) our Escape ordered on 19 Dec 2020 is due to land in Melbourne late next month, so that has been an 11 month wait if the shipping schedule remains accurate as the car freighter is due out of Spain this week.

The other way is to put some stock into Ford internal fleet
