Chairman's Award: Chairman's Award - Issue reason: Your outstanding contributions to this community have not gone unnoticed. IN my view you are a worthy recipient of the (rarely used) Chairman's Award.

It’s been more white smoke with this one, the number of head/bore issues over time.

I’ve read that the original PCM/TCM config can be heavily edited for immo bypass and a bunch of other deletes relating to body control, is this actually correct? To “strip down” a PCM/TCM to run a standard (ute?) map with no ABS, no dash, immobiliser off etc, would be the ideal goal.

Can be done on LS engine management systems, whether or not there's local ability to do this with Kia engine management systems is anyone's guess, it's not exactly a popular modification platform

I meant the GM electronics. The truck is mostly mechanical, save for the speedometer drive and tacho signal - there’s next to nothing that requires mashing up.

Oh, and no engine. That went into a K2700 truck.

I can’t find a motor at sane prices, or at least a crank and maybe a rod. (Crank is cracked, rod damaged where its bearing spun). Crank doesn’t interchange with the smaller Mazda diesels I believe inspired the J2 motor.

Without being silly, any suggestions of motors that either bolt up to the J2 pattern bellhousings or a readily adapted swap? The aim would be to keep it tractable and suited to design function.

Cheers for any thoughts on how this might be achieved practically and thriftily.

Sorry, the thread meandered.

The empty van went to an arborist as a dog shed or grow room or something. I needed it out of the way promptly. The truck is the workhorse, trying to keep it running is the quest.

The VN - VS series V6 you just pull the engine and trans including all the engine harness and ECU right up to behind the glovebox, from memory there are only 3 or 4 wires to make it actually run, the gauges and stuff you have to nut out using the GM wiring diagram.

2.7 out of an 2000s hilux/hiace. Good torque and will do a billion km, they seem to like turbos too...
