Default AdBlue Crisis

Is there any workaround for Ford Everest and other vehicles that can not operate without AdBlue? As far as I am aware, there is no AdBlue available to buy now, due to panic buying, so this a serious problem. Can the AdBlue requirement be reprogrammed?

I'll use this thread instead of creating a new one just for this question, which may be a silly one, but....

Why does the Everest require the use of Adblue, but the Ranger doesn't? If it's an emissions control issue, is it because the weight of the Everest is higher, creating extra emissions above the threshold and thus requiring Adbue to assist in the management thereof?

Might be something obvious, but if it is, it went over my head

I think the smartest thing to do will be to use whatever Adblue you have left in your tank to head down to the closest supermarket and panic buy all those items that disappeared quickly during the pandemic.

Tis what I'll be doing tomorrow. Stocking up on bog rolls and the like for the likely inevitable shortage.

That’s cause euro emissions are much stricter. So it might well be that they don’t build transits in lower emissions spec, so we get lumped with it here even though it doesn’t need it.

Been reading news.com.au a bit too closely.
You can still buy the product. There is no shortage as yet.

thats it
just because in australia commercials dont need to meet as high a standard at their non commercial equivalents
dosnt mean so dont meet other emission standards being their mad to meet the emission standards of the strictest place their sold (euro) but still shipped to other places around the globe
our company mainly buys euro trucks with the higher emission standards but on due to these trucks having higher standard safety ratings
but we still buy some with lower emission ratings as they are better suited to some heavier work loads we do
and they were talking about in feb upgrading my old 116t rated cab over KW to a less older scania as the newer fleet come in
but now im hearing that my change may be on hold for a while longer due to the adblue situation

I was at a plastic container manufacturer yesterday and they had 20 pallets of 80 x 20L drums to go to a couple of branded Adblue suppliers and I turned to the warehouse manager and said "Do you know what that stock if filled is worth today and maybe in a few months time vs back this time last year"?

Exactly, it's the panic buying and hording which will accelerate a potential shortage...it just happens our Custom needed AdBlue this week and usually gets over 10,000km per tank while our Vito has done 7000km since we bought it and has half a tank of AdBlue remaining. In other words for mid-size vans and cars you could go half a year to waiting for 12 month services before needing a top up...if some private car drivers even knew they required it.

Way ahead of ya. Picked up 30 rolls this morning.

Willing to sell at exorbitant prices when the time comes. Given my father is a jeweller, I can organise to have them gold plated. Adds that perceived value.

Lucky I got my 30 rolls...

Shelves of bog rolls have been picked clean at my local Woolies. Signs on the shelves indicate everything is now in short supply.

It's strange to think I have more toilet paper in my house than what's on the shelf at Woolies.
