Default Collectability XD v FPV F6?

Does any body out there have an opinion on the collectability values of the
XD 5.8 GL auto v BF MkII FPV F6 Typhoon RSpec auto (2007)
Which 1 to buy to if there is a choice ?

If the cars have been modified that will affect the value.

XD, then, if it’s a clinical decision. (Personally I’d prefer the newer car!)

If you’re buying it as an investment then the F6. No one apart from us oldies remembers what an XD was.

The people who will pay top dollar for the XD when you sell in 20 years will be dribbling into their porridge or pushing up daisies, whereas the F6 will be coming into its own as a classic ready for the next cashed up nostalgia crowd.

RSpec F6 all day long. Truly significant car of it's era, yet to have it's nostalgia wave while the XD has had/is having it's.

There's no real correct answer.
People pay big dollars for stuff when it appeals to them.
It's just finding the right butt for the seat at the time.
You could possibly have 50 people wanting a F6 with 5 available and 15 people wanting a 351 XD with 1 available.

Being a GL tips the scales towards the F6 imo. If the XD was a Ghia might be different.

are you going to drive it or store it?

if you are driving during the week and maybe hitting the track on weekends go the F6 but if its a dedicate weekender get the XD
the smile you will get cruising in a 351 XD will be priceless

I'm happier driving my 3.3l HX holden than i am my GT, only because the GT drive like any other modern car unless i'm into it, the HX is just fun all the time

but if i drove the HX to work i'd set fire to it

If you don't have to sell either at the moment I'd hang onto them both.
Whilst second hand cars in general have gone up stupidly in value , the butt has fallen out of the "toy" car market at the moment with interest rates rising etc.
If one had to go at the moment you would get a better price at this time selling the F6 because it could be used as a daily which would give a larger market.
No one would even thing a 351 XD could be used as a daily.

The XD is going to be seen as very slow by a lot of younger people, heavy clutch, etc. Give me the F6 any day of the week over the XD. Gen Y will pay for the F6. Gen X might be a little interested in the XD but mostly Boomers.

Seeing as the xd isn't anything special I'd turn it into a greens tuff replica and have something really cool rather than the f6 that you would have to leave stock or fear wrecking its value.

It all just comes down to which You want to buy - is it heart or investment driven....
In the end it no matter about the Gens - there is a buyer out there always as long as you don't ask for GOLD originally.
This no tyre kicker mentions on adds, well your asking too much in the first place and not desparate to sell but hope for a sucker so don't call me unless your the sucker lol.
Its all timing in the end, whats meant to be happens.
Both vehicles are great but I'd never over pay for one but thats me.

,

hey hey taylod
we're kind of in this situation. got an XW GS and ED XR8 Sprint. What tends to happen is your kids learn to drive in them, and then the kids say "No way you are selling these Dad, I'll have them, I'll have them all."

So yeah they might have been a good cash in, but they will be continued to be owned. In the meantime they are a lot of fun, and totally different experiences. The XW floats on the road like a flying saucer, has such simplicity and so little extra stuff hanging off it it turns over on a twitch, while the ED is a monster in it's top end and can white knuckle scare you silly, or give you the biggest grin and seems to be sprung like a go kart.

Taught the young fella to drive manual in the Sprint, that becomes a treasured memory too.

This:

The XD turns itself to be a project car with the right person and built correctly it could increase its value better as a street car

most uncommon boy names

The FPV you don't tamper with - more suited to somebody not doing any spanner work.

That picture sort of sums it up for me.
No disrespect to anyone, but that XD looks horrible IMHO
I agree re the F6 and leaving it stock/ish

Not mine either, its like they were based on the Cortinas of the time.
sort of a confused era of transitioning from Chrome bumpers to plastic.
