"Australia’s new vehicle sales (checked against registrations) rebounded in August, up 17.3 per cent over the same month last year to 95,256 cars.

It was the best August in five years, suggesting the supply of vehicles is steadily improving. It also takes the year-to-date tally to 717,575, down 2.1 per cent on 2021."

I'd love to know what the sales numbers would be if supply of components was unlimited, multiple ship loads didn't suddenly arrive in quick succession skewing up individual monthly numbers, or if shipping were not delayed also skewing down numbers, if OS divisions didn't favour their local supply vs Australia,...if.. if ..if....frankly Vfacts doesn't seem to me to hold any real relevance to a models success rather which importer has a parent looking after it better.

Year to date average out the year. Supply is good these days for most brands. The run into Christmas will see what the market looks like with a good supply.

It just shows its all about reputation with Toyota. You can build the most boring, useless cars but if they are perceived as being quality with decent resale people will buy them.

I would buy a Triton over a Hilux.... I just don't get it. But of course Ford has let me down again with my new Ranger... Tail shaft needs replacing, its missing the zone lighting from factory and its throwing warnings about certain safety systems.

Ford build the best cars you can buy for the dollars but their build quality is rat **** and they never seem to be able to get on top of it.

That number is just going to get higher this month and next. Huge numbers coming in now.

Agreed. The Mach E would be money for Jam for Ford. Madness that they don't bring the product here.

Yeah the numbers are completely skewed atm, and many brands are going month to month with huge variations in numbers.

Seems to maybe be starting to smooth out a bit now though.

Ford should just pay Tesla to use their network in Australia. Big part of the reason people buy Teslas is for the Supercharger network that is the best in Australia.

I read an article around 3 weeks ago saying it was locked in, but nothing further was said so I assumed it was just a clickbait article. Carsales I think it was.

I hope it’s priced in our budget, we’d love to have one alongside a ute.

Off topic, but is it true that only Tesla's can use the Tesla charges (as well as the others) and non tesla EV's cant, not even at some sort of charge?

Then they might as well not bother. The Y in standard is $73k plus onroads. It was $69k before the price jump recently. Sure, the GT would be acceptable at that price point but the RWD needs to be significantly less or they'll just keep giving Tesla the market share.

Yes, its true.

Reason for this was Tesla invited other brands to work with them to roll out the network and the big companies said, FU Tesla, we don't need some startup telling us how to do things. So Tesla did it alone. Now who is laughing!

It may change in time as it is in Europe where Tesla are piloting opening the network to other manufacturers. As an owner, I'd rather they didn't do this as I like that I have exclusive access to the network.

If I planned to do any country driving in Australia, I'd never look at any other car than a Tesla (which is why we have so many Teslas, we love taking them for long drives into the country). The network is just so far superior to anything else out there.

Tesla price is irrelevant. They simply won't care what they are doing, because it will be in such limited supply most likely, that they will have no issue selling whatever small amount they will get.

They can literally set the price wherever they want it. With the factory being so short of supply i'd be surprised if they can even get more than a few hundred a year.

We will see what happens if and when an announcement is made.

So like the Ioniq 5 with Hyundai. They're always SOLD OUT in 15 minutes but they only bring 150 cars a quarter or so. Easy to sell out when you don't bring any stock into the country. Won't even average out across the year at such small numbers.

I hope they bring them in some meaningful numbers. From all reports, they're a pretty good car. $90-100k is more than even a Raptor or Everest Platinum.

You know what, you’re absolutely right.
In the US, Tesla averages 60,000 deliveries of 3 & Y a month where Ford struggles
to sell Mach E at a tenth of that (6,000) So yeah, I have no earthly idea how Ford
intends to supply North America, Europe and Australia, hard to imagine any supply,
maybe a few hundred a month of Mach E is enough for them…

Not much they can do till the new battery plants come on line. Then you'll start to see production ramp up significantly.
