Default FPV certs

As a lot of FPV owners would know a great deal of the time when you purchase a second hand FPV you don’t receive the compendium pack which includes the FPV Certificates of Authenticity.

I have tried to track mine down, as many have, with little to no luck. Contacting Ford and FPV was a waste of time also as they don’t re-issue them as they are a once off.

With this I have been trying to get as many scanned certs as I can so I can help those, like myself, that don’t have a copy of the cert but want one. I have managed to get a copy of the below certs but am after all of them if at all possible.

FG GT
FG GT-P
FG GT mkii
FG GT-P mkii (made from the GT-P and GT 335 certs so may not be 100%)
FG GT R-spec
BF GT Cobra

I am hoping there are some here that have certs and would be willing to scan and email me a copy. I won’t share the cert with your number on it, quite happy for you to cover your number but would very much like one digit left on it to match the text. I would prefer a 300dpi scan but would be happy with anything. Please PM if willing to scan and send me your cert and I’ll send you my email address.

If you are after a cert I have listed above don’t hesitate to ask. Currently have the above numbered with 000 so you can change the number to match your car if you are able to, have someone else do it or I can when near my pc.

Certs still needed, it is a long list

BA/BF GT and GT-P
BA to FG MKII F6/F6E
Force 6 and 8
F6 R-spec
FG GT Black
FG GTE mkI and II
FG GT-F
F6-X
GT 40th
Persuit and Special Persuit
Probably a few I have missed

Thanks in advance.

I'm torn on this. While I feel for those that don't have them, there is something oxymoronic about a non authentic certificate of authenticity. I would be OK if they had "reprint" or "copy" somewhere on them.

How upfront will people be when they on sell these cars down the track? Will they fess up that the certificates are non-genuine? People down the track will probably be deceived by this.

Tweeked there is always the potential for that but would be hard when they are missing the full FPV compendium and I’m pretty sure a piece of card won’t make or break a sale, could be wrong though.

I know we see the compendiums for sale from time to time and someone could quite easily have one printed and slip it in but really don’t think the print quality would do the original any justice.

Same with everything I suppose. Just on the BA series 1, they will be tricky as the FPV symbol, Ford Performance Vehicles and the GT symbol are not printed at all, they are embossed into the paper.

Tweeked I have seen photos of the BA cert and wondered about. A scan may show it up and just print the shadows. Know it is not the same but better than what many actually have. If in a frame in the shed no one will pick it.

98tls that would be greatly appreciated.

I will update the list I have as I get more so I can help out as many as I can.

I recently sold a BF F6 Compendium with a build certificate. I had more people wanting me to send them a free hi -res copy of the build cert than people wanting to buy the Compendium.

290GTP that is probably because people just want a copy for their wall and not to put in the car. No point purchasing a cert that doesn’t match your car unless you want the folder only.

One guy in particular was quite open about selling reproduction certificates as he was a printer by trade. He was planning on doctoring build numbers onto the blank cert.

He had most of the FPV certs, just not a BF F6 one.

Never knew someone was offering them. If it is a 100% accurate reproduction of a cert with the correct embossing and such I honestly don’t see the issue, after all it is just a printed cert from FPV and what I can tell the signature on it is also printed and not hand signed. HSV offered replacements but unfortunately FPV/Ford would not which is very annoying. They freely offer the letter of authenticity with all build data providing you match the records so why not the certs.

I would happily pay for a reproduction cert that is 100% accurate.

I recently sold my compendium and certificate of my BF GT to the new owner and he was very happy to have it and I knew he was the one it meant most to.. I still have my BA GT compendium and cert signed by David Flint and last I heard that car was in WA somewhere so the compendium will stay with me as a keepsake as I always intended it to.

It was traded at a dealer and I certainly wasn't giving it to them , you get shafted enough on trade value, and I paid for the GT new so if I wanted to keep it, as I did with my BA GT that's my prerogative. I realise there is differing opinions on the forums regarding this, but to each their own. Had I been selling it privately I certainly would have discussed this, as it was, the buyer new a mate of mine form the GT club and sought me out. There is no right or wrong answer with this just whatever suits the owner.

I really can understand it and would probably be in the same frame of mind if selling my car and it had the compendium. It would be a very hard decision to let it go with the car as I absolutely love my car and things must have turned south for me to be thinking of selling it. I would want to hold onto the compendium as a keep sake if the car had to go. But at the same time I really do feel it should go with the car.

It is weird as it is such as small thing that really adds nothing to the car but if it is available I feel it should be with the car, again easy for me to say as mine never came with one and I’ve never had to make that decision. I have read many didn’t even recieve theirs when they purchased new unless you requested it, even then some never received it.

Sell my GT-P privately for a good price. Buyer gets compendium.

Trade my GT-P in for a wholesale price. I keep compendium. Unless the dealer specifically asked for it (which he wouldn't).

Buying the car new you get the option of keeping it as a memento - "the time I bought a GT". You cop the depreciation, you can keep the pack. I do not see anything wrong in any way with the person who made the biggest investment keeping it. Selling a car after 15 years for $20K that you spent $70K on and then someone says you are doing them wrong?

If you want anything not offered as part of the sale of the car you negotiate.

Funny thing about the certs, I have BFII F6 R spec #118, I have the R spec cert plus another F6 Typhoon cert with #118, the younger guy I brought it from also mentioned there was a GT cert with it also.. I'll take another look at the x2 certs I have to see if the other is a fake or not

Haven't had a compendium make or break a sale yet, but I can definitely see that the values in the future will be aligned with what the car comes with. I would pay the best dollar for an original car with the compendium, and FSH, inc receipts, as opposed to one with just an owner's manual.

As for the age old question of morals and ethics behind providing a repro - 99.5% of people here wouldn't know what an original one looked or felt like. If the company that made the cars don't care enough to assist, or know enough to assist, then why would you not seek a way to reproduce with accuracy?

Also, those with very late BF (up to May or June delivery in some cases) received compendiums filled with FG marketing and images, and later when selling car have seen people question the authenticity of the folder due the said FG images. Ford were sending these folders out 6-12 months after the purchase of the car, in some cases owners never received them.

Also, "P" builds never came with compendiums.

Those who want to make one up will never do it the same as original.

Slightly off topic but original Ford tissue boxes are as rare as rocking horse poo & very expensive if you can find one. I read on Facebook (so it must be true) that one fetched $325 on Ebay.

My car doesn't have one & I have no desire to pay that much cash for a bunch of snot rags. But I might have a go at making my own. The link below has a PDF template that you can download then print.

Yes, a nice gesture. If they can get them right. Have had several mistakes. Also different build quantities between 2 certs for the same model.

Genuine compendium pack which includes FPV Numbered Certificate of Authenticity etc,
is a must in my opinion, if you want to optimise the full potential of the vehicle eg, GT FPV 335. There is also other factors which also determines price eg, Year & kilometres etc,
Eg, 2014 MK 11 GT, GTF etc, models Final Year of Ford Production.
