Hey there,
Can anyone offer some tips on the storage of interior parts for a small period of time? It is a set of seats (front and rear) and 4 door trims. All in original condition. Bought them and need to store them till they go in my coupe at the end of the year. 1. I was thinking of wrapping them in some old blankets/sheets? 2. Bug protection - what should I do here? (they will be stored in an attic) 3. What sort of product could I put on them before storage? Just armour all? 4. Door trims - store them flat? Tape them between some cardboard peices? Any help and thoughts much appreciated! Coupsta |

have a look at plastic pallet wrap that you can purchase from Signet.... It is like strong glad wrap, , and will work perfectly. you could eaisly do all the seats and trims...
If you put enough wrap, , no bugs will get in. AC/DC |

Wrapping the seats up in blankies and plastic should be ok, put in a few mothballs, a handfull of napthalene flakes or a quick spray with a good surface spray if worried about creepy crawlies.
Store the skins flat, bubble wrap between, cardboard top & bottom, heaps of 100mph tape. Anyhow i'm betting there's a few members that would let ya store them in their coupe for a while. : |

Shrink wrap would be the best bet. I'd avoid layers of blankets, cardboard & bubble warp if you're storing them in your roof. No need for the fire hazard when shrink wrap will keep them just fine.

another vote for the shrink wrap.... you don't want mice making your seats into a nice home...

Shrink wrap it is then!.....
Can anyone confirm/deny that lanolin is the best preserver for vinyl?? I have heard put a coat of that on prior to shrink wrap. They have been stored before I bought them - now im storing them. Dont want the vinyl to go brittle and when it is finally in the car the first time and they are sat on in years and they split yknow. |

It's usually the sun that'll dry up the leather/vinyl. Perhaps some mothers leather conditioner before wrapping them would help but if they're in ok condition now they should still be fine towards the end of the year. One thing to consider is it does get very hot in an attic.

The moths arnt going to be eating vinyl, they only eat natural fibre.
Just wrap them up in heavy duty garbage bags, and tape it up if you're worried. Thats what ive done with a set of seats under my house.

Also watch mice & rats as they love to take foam & other materials for nests. If stored in the shed. Shrink wrapping is the way to go as well as interior I have shrinked wrapped wheels & tyres in storage.

All of the above plus...lots of silica gel and rodent bait...silica gel to prevent mould.....rodent bait just in case they get in.
Actually don't put rodent bait in with the bits put it around the outside on the floor.
