Default Degreasers

Doing a bit of mucking about in the garage and on the car means lots of cleaning up. I have been using Motortech degreaser forever and a day, and find that work great, and was previously quite economical, could pick them up on special for about $2 each. Usually buy them in bulk so haven't had a need to restock for about 6 months. Just looked at the prices today, and they have doubled to about $4 each can! Yikes.

Noticed that bunnings sells concentrated degreasers by the litres that you have to pre mix yourself. Its a lot more economical.

Any recommendations on which ones are good and safe for motor parts??

I've been using KBS Aqua Klean after I had some leftovers from my tank sealing kit.
Really impressed with it, not sure how it stacks up cost wise with others but a little bit goes a long way. It stripped off years of burnt on oil and grease from a secondhand gearbox, no scrubbing, just soak and hose off. Brilliant stuff.

Agar Chemicals React Degreaser FTW!

$25ish for 5 litre bottle. I mix it at 2:1 for my work truck but it says you should do it 20:1 for tough grease. I spray all the chassis of truck and trailer with it. High pressure rinse I dont have to sponge anywhere I spray it.

Maybe try one of the large truck and trailer parts places, they'll usually sell you a degreaser by the 5ltr, 10ltr, 20ltr drums.

Personally I just use diesel or kero and recycle it.

Kerosine is much safer than diesel especially with paint work, I sometimes tend to mix both for tough removal of grime from mechanical parts.

Yes Kerosene is much safer.
It is excellent for cleaning bicycle parts where there are rubber components present.

Where are you getting them in Melb?

See their head office is in Preston, any retailers out in the east stock them?

Hi way truck parts in Laverton north, Melbourne.
98 bucks for 20ltr concentrate seems a good price to me.

Hi way also sells your Motortech, not as cheap by the can.

Freaken hell.... is that inflation kicking in? Saw some retailers selling them for $6 a can. Nuts.

At this stage think I might go pick up the 12 cans for $30. The aerosol spray helps gets into the difficult to reach areas.

Keep an eye on Repco, they usually have these with cheap discount at times.
