Time has come to consider a lowering job on the XR6 boat. I was wondering whether anyone can post pics of their cars (AU's)which has been lowered and tell us what type of springs are in the car and what size rims your car has. I'm after an indication on how the XR6 might look.

Also, is it hard to install these. JC? :

Lowered on 19"s is definatly the trick I got SL's all round,

Im just thinking about your bling mobile lowered mmmm.. Go talk to Moonie out at Revell Fyshwick and tell em you want it like Phil's

Before:

Mid:
19"s with Low Springs (damn Batemans Bay dodgy mechanics)

Now: After a trip to Revell, Moonie and the boys got me sitting just right

Thanks LG. I think it looks good at that height. I'm considering SSL's. But not sure. Might be too low for the car and I need to have the front guard rolled. Something I want to avoid if possible

I have a set in mind which I just have to decide. Not sure how the car will look or how it will handle, but I guess I can always keep my original springs in case I decide to go back

Tickford is approx 1" lower than Std. Falcon.

King Lows is approx 1.5" lower than Std. Falcon.

So if you go for lows, your not going to be able to tell the difference. SL's is the way @ a minimum for an XR.

And now you want to lower it .... damn.

PS: you need more interior bling as well ... i think i surprised you that the work ute had "Bling Inside" ... hee hee

With some random stuff in the boot, and a full tank of fuel. It sits really nice. With a few people in the car, it's even better. But when it's just me, and nearly on empty. It's just a tad high.

But I'm very happy, with the looks. & the handling is exceptional.

Hey guys, i have a tickford fairmont, sits alright as is but i would love it to sit lower, and it is about time it had new suspension (Has done 135,000Km) only thing is i am in real estate and constantly have people in my car so i need it to be a little higher in the rear to accomodate for the extra weight. I have no probs at current height, but was wondering what you guys recomend and also if some of you with Low's, SL & SSL could do some measurements from centre of wheel to top of wheel arch to go with the above photo's.

Sorry to jack your thread bucknaked, but i also would like to see some pics and measurements to help with my decision. When you get yours done, make sure you post up some pics & measurements of how it sits.

This is how mine sits now with tickford suspension.

I have LPG so the rear should sit fairly nice, currently sits 370mm front and about 375mm rear with standard AU2 suspension, if it drops 30ish from that ill be happy

Bucky just a thought, call King Springs, they have all the measurements of their product.
Just checking the current '06 catalog :

'98-'02 AUXR6 XR8 TSeries IRS Fronts KFFL-57SL Rears KFRL-67SL

Then ask how much lower does SSL drop from the above numbers.

I was surprised how much more interior Bling you have than me. I am going to have to remedy that. :hihi:

The boot was full of stuff, and a full tank, it sits at a perfect height. My only fear is by going to SSL's, I am going to sit way to low when I have a full load, and I've just eaten dinner. Its bound to sit very low.

Anyone who has SSL's and has carried a 4 passengers with a tank and stuff in the boot, did you notice ride was a nightmare? Or it was all cool

I'm after the visual effects, but if it sacrifices comfort for looks, yeah I'm not sure I will do it. I know its surprising.

So SSL's would be cool. Not too low? I assume the front guards will need to be rolled?

I have 1.5" lower suspension in the ute ... so I think Kings SSL might be the go ... your wheels will make it look higher than other's though ... so it should compensate for that.

I'm after a tough look. Right now, the car is too high and looks silly. I just need to bring it back to earth.

this is mine at it's current height,I have koni's with adjustable ride height and 18inch wheels. It was higher before I took it out on the track, but now can't bring myself to raise it back up.At this height it does scrape on the larger speed bumps.a tank of fuel,a boot full of stuff and 3 ppl in the rear seat makes it squat a bit in the bum,but sits perfect at normal weightsI have the rear 5cm's higher than the front.

I dont know about SSL. 012 has SL front & SSL rear. And this is on a T1. The bodykit on them, isn't as aggressive as yours. He's told me, he scrapes on nearly everything, and forget medium sized speed humps.

By all means its your choice. I don't know where you live. So in a place, where speed humps or driveways isn't a problem, go that step lower. But be prepared to fix cracked side skirts & bumpers.

On that note.... airbags ;)

Easy. Between 2 and 3 hours. We can do the rocker cover at the same time. How's Saturday arvo for you - about 1.30pm ish?

I have Superlows in mine if you want to come and have a look. Top of tyre is pretty much equal with lip of the guard. And I scrape getting out of my driveway - SSLs would be too low (in front), IMO, but may be OK in the back.

Thanks JC, but I don't have the springs yet. I'm concerned about SSL's being the height they are with the scraping with the body kit. At stock height now I have to be careful with the front bar scraping. Giving it some thought at the moment.

I have Koni / Superlows and have destroyed the little pods on the bottom of the XR bar, the right hand fender lip catches on sharp turns..

THe rear is fine, I cart my toolbox around in the boot and never 'beach' the car

XR6 hp, live rear end (is yours IRS Bucky?)
Kings superlows on 17's
wheel size should not matter too much mate as rolling diametre should be almost the same.

Bucky if your worried about scraping on the kit I would go SL's definatly low enough and with the 19"s you will be right in most cases.. Only time I have scraped is a steep drive way and full boot..

Though you know down the Bay the new mall.. SSL I would say if you got down you prolly wouldn't get out without a few casulaties.

Though you could bag it... The you can set the height to your conditions... do it... do it...

JC, when you pull the front struts/springs out, is there enough room to get them through the suspension arms or does the top arm have to get loosened?
