Default Facebook scam beware and advise please

Hi all,
My friends Facebook account has been hacked…. Do not buy anything on there….
There are Puppies, Furniture and other items for sale…… do not buy anything and warn all your friends please.
Account name is Julia Velovski.
Now we have been to the Police but that was hopeless and reported the page a scam by pressing the 3 dots on the top right corner then reporting the page but the scammer/hacker has blocked all her friends and family.

Any other suggestions please

Scammers everywhere, buyers and sellers. I do quite a bit of buying and selling on there, and also sell stuff on behalf of people who don't/can't use FB like my 90 year old neighbour, so come across quite a few of them and have to filter them out before I pass them on.

Signs to look out for:
* Strange names, broken english when chatting, profile only has 1 or 2 photos, say they joined 10 years ago but have 15 people on their friend list, etc etc.
* As a buyer, they don't even ask about the product, they message you straight away and say they will pay and have someone else come pick it up.

Sellers are a bit harder to pick, quite a lot of them have genuine accounts. Many people have been asked to pay first, then the seller goes silent. If you are buying anything over $50, best to meet in person and pick it up.

As for reporting the scammer, best thing is to warn others, especially in speciality groups where members might buy from said person. FB admin are freaken hopeless with accounts, and its too trivial for cops to spend their time on.

FB accounts being hacked is a different matter, strong passwords and 2FA is about all that you can do. Some don't even bother to hack your account these days. They steal your profile pic and open up a new account with the same name, then start messaging people on your friends list. I'm guessing they eventually start asking for money.

You can hide your friends list, which will limit the impact they can have on your friends and family. Downside is, if you are selling stuff on market place, it might look suss to a potential buyer.

If your account has been hacked then go to this link.

https://www.facebook.com/hacked

https://www.facebook.com/help/121634...ef=faq_content

Give you a tip for future facebook accounts, never indulge in giving personal details, use a password that is not used for other accounts or forums etc, my FB account has only my name and no family photos, all details including birth are fictitious in the event if my account is hacked, then I just don't care as I will open up another one.

Great advice. I think it is also a good idea never to use the same password for anything.

Never fill in quizes or answer "Do you remember" type posts. They reveal information about you that helps the scammers.

Thanks for that information I will pass it on…. As said earlier Facebook has been notified and NSW Police. He or she is still attempting to steal money from people.

I got done pretty hard.
I ordered some very expensive earrings for my wife and an immaculate Suzuki GSX-R 750 turned up.
If I ever get back from Phillip Island I’ll be sure to notify the police.

I love the scammers. I waste so much of their time. Personal favourite is to give them the address to Randwick barracks when they want to know where to post something and they are claiming that they are military
