Default auto accessory shops

is one brand better than the other especially for mail orders?
We have Bursons, Repco and supercheap. The former 2 are useless, supercheap is just that.
I am looking to buy floor mats and seat covers for the wifes upgraded Forrie.

I do enjoy Autobarn but 800k trip makes them expensive,

thoughts...

Do you want genuine or aftermarket?

If Genuine try Ebay or GTLEGEND. Autobarn do deliveries so you're fine there.

hard shopping for mats seat covers online mind you.
No fan shopping that way for items needing touch feel and ofcourse suiting your taste.

Having said that I got these online lol because I know someone who got them therefore was able to check them out first off.
Robust and good quality I was surprised, for the sons Hilux.

Ebay has some good options for both rubber and carpet style tailored floor mats. As does Amazon but just make sure specify RHD.

With the floor mats, are you after carpet or something more heavy duty?
Seat covers..... Canvas, Neoprene, sheepskin?

I've been in the parts trade for over 15 years and its straight up heartbreaking to see how its all going :-(

1. carpet mats but hoping for something a little thicker, sort of like an home outdoor mat.
2. just comfortable hard wearing, my dad (god bless him) had mauve thick real sheepskin hand made by a farmer nephew Not canvas though, thats too agricultural.

I agree, its the same as everything, as more competition comes on the market, sellers are getting cheaper stuff to have the advantage over competition. cars, clothing, hardware, etc etc

I think I put everything off and personally visit shops and 'feel' the quality.

I can vouch for the quality of Fit-My-Car floor mats. These are OE fit, not generic, and offer three grades of carpet material, with stitching and banding colour choices.

They have a 10% EOFY discount on at the moment too -

https://www.fitmycar.com.au/subaru/f...current/1231-4

I have a set for my XR8 and Mustang, both being an improvement in plushness over the Ford OE mats.

OE Mustang -

FMC -

OE XR logo vs FMC (Driver side, note how they extend further forward) -

OE XR logo vs FMC (Pass. Side) -

FMC fitment -

In both cases, these are the mid-spec "Executive" option, which I would comfortably recommend and re-order again. The carpet material is plush without being over-done.

No, you can't go into a store to touch and feel, but I see that as a good thing as I shopping in stores these days.

Have bought floor rugs from FMC, fairly decent.

Dash mat - actually sublet to a business in WA - terrible. When taken to task, they defended it as “fit for purpose” as though selling a used taillight or something. I would not buy a dash mat from them again.

Dash mats can look pretty horrible in any case, so I guess that explains their excuse.

I personally would stick with OE dash mats as they seem to be the most subtle, although that's hard for cars out of production.

Dash mats have to be seen, to be felt, to be tried on. Autobarn let me do that.

Be careful about aftermarket dash mats covering the sun load sensor on the dash if your car has it there - it'll cause chaos with the AC/climate control.

I would highly recommend NOT getting seat covers. After a certain year model, those Foresters came with SRS side airbags that protect you in a side impact, and those airbags are fixed to the side of the seat. Put a seat cover on, and those are now useless.

Most, if not all, accessory makers take this into account and will state this is in the product description. So, it's not a blatant no no, but certainly something to be aware of when purchasing.
