Is anyone else having issues with pages loading?
Sometimes a page will load instantly, most times it will time out and require refreshing 1 to 3 times. I'm not having issues with any other website/forum, just FF.

Yes, the last day or so. It’s ripping through heaps of data trying to load.

Hmmm, noticed the same, been doing it for about 3 to 4 days now. Very irritating.

Just FYI.
Russ is onto to it. It will take some time to rectify though. It appears that potential scammers are bombarding the AFF server to the point that the server is slowing down. |

Thanks for the patience.
We had been seeing unusual activity since August with higher than normal bandwidth utilisation and page loads but as the usage here can be a bit seasonal anyway, I hadn't paid much attention to it until the last week in September where had one day that used more bandwidth (1.4 Tb) than we normally use in a month followed by two days with 4x the daily average each. A bit of a dive showed inordinately high guest numbers and some further analysis showed that a lot (~80%) of these were coming from an AWS host in Singapore which I had blocked at the forum level a week ago but they could still hit the database and add to the server load even if they did only get a blocked error message so I attempted to block them at the firewall yesterday (without success) and this morning, successfully. Guest numbers have since dropped from 5.7k to 2.4k and will continue to drop as those sessions from the 47.128 range die and time out. Apologies for the issues.

Just to add to the joys, it looks like Telstra are having some intermittent DNS faults that have been going on for the last couple of weeks. Might just be us as the NBN locally is being upgraded for FTTP but it might be wider.

If your Router is not locked down by your ISP changing DNS servers may improve performance.
As I have a VPN I use my VPN providers DNS servers but there are plenty of options to try. Cloudflare and Google are a couple of alternatives. |
