Default Honey, I shrunk the LandCruiser

Finally got a chance to sit in a 300 series and I have to say, it's small compared to both the 100 and 200 series! The second row middle seat is non existent and leg room seems less as well. For similar length, the 300 seems more cramped.

I used to call the Everest a mid size SUV and the LandCruiser a full size but now, they are very comparable in size. Makes me wonder why people would spend the extra coin on the smaller 300 series over an Everest. Maybe that's why the Everest is doing so well these days compared to the previous series.

I hope the Patrol doesn't shrink with the new Y63 as well. I want one but with tech from this century.

My biggest issue with the Y62, apart from the but ugly facelift is the interior door handles are from or very similar to an early 1990s Nissan Bluebird, Primera or Maxima.

I remember reading once a dealer, think it was a Ford dealer but can't remember, had on their lot an example of the opposition's direct competitor and it helped sway some sales....thinking if you had an Everest beside a LC and a direct comparison could be made including roadtest with the final obvious one being cost it could be interesting....although it could also go the other way

Think some dealers proudly display traded in cars from the opposition.

I reckon it would be a great idea especially with the new LandCruiser. It might be marginally bigger but not like the 200 series.

I'm looking to hire a car to go to K'gari and one of the sites I'm looking at explicitly warns people that the 300 series is smaller than the 200 series.

I have a 100 series, Dad has a 200 series and i've seen a few 300, they are all on the same wheelbase but since the 100 getting progressively smaller and more cramped on the inside. The 300 really is what the prado should have been, a true 300 should be slightly upsized and bigger driveline.

I'm not one to be stuck in the past. I don't sing the anthem as "Australian sons" either.

This body kit would make it pretty bad off road!

The US spec version has a better interior and better interface. Not sure why we get the povo spec.

With the Warrior version here, I'd doubt we'd see it. ADR's and all.

Interesting observations as they seem more massive at the front.

It's built on the same platform as the new Prado.

Yeah, they look bigger but are certainly not inside. It's so cramped for what is meant to be a full sized car. Maybe it's safety stuff but the width inside is reduced. As is the leg room.

I would've thought moving to a 6 cylinder would've freed up some real-estate to move the front row forward with the firewall. Seems not to be the case sadly.

Quite simply, I don't subscribe to this rubbish. It's Fraser Island to me and always will be.

I was at an airport recently and looking on the departures monitor to see if the Brisbane flight was on time. Scanning down the destination list and couldn't find Brisbane. Checked and rechecked and finally located it. The word 'Brisbane' was alternating with 'Meanjin'. Quite confusing really. I'd imagine it would have been even more so for overseas visitors.

I guess adding it to the arrival and departures information made some goose feel that he/she/they/them was saving the world though.

You mean you don't subscribe to the name used for places for thousands of years vs 200 odd? Not saving the world, just educating it.

Not sure if that's the hill I'd want to die on. India, for example, has been moving back to their city's original names that were changed when the British arrived.

I like it. I love learning about names used and Aboriginal culture in general that was written out of the books when I was younger.

I guess some people would find it inconvenient to learn that there was a culture and people here before they were almost erased from history.

I'm not fussed, as long as they still refer to the names of places as their usual names too. If someone used 'Naarm' I'd know they're referring to Melbourne, if they said 'Meanjin' I've got no idea as I'm not from QLD or familiar with indigenous names from other capital cities, this is the first time I've heard of it referring to Brisbane.

If suddenly parcels come back to me as failed deliveries because I didn't use it's indigenous name then id have a problem.

Who here knows it as 'Ayers Rock'? It's always been called Uluru in my lifetime and referred to by it's indigenous name. I'm obviously aware of Ayers Rock but you'd be hard pressed to find the last of the Millennials referring to it as 'Ayers Rock'.

It'll probably be known as and referred to as K'gari by Gen Alpha when they're looking at tourism destinations in 10-20 years.

This. When was the last time we heard Uluru called by the old "new" name. Slow process of educating people to the old names. Starts by us using them in the first place. Today, I learnt the original name for Brisbane. Awesome! I'm sure some tourists were confused when they wanted to go to Ayres Rock and instead were told they were going to Uluru.

Don't think our mail is at risk of getting rejected anytime soon.
