Came across an Albino Magpie & standard mate whilst walking the dogs in some local bush.... a 1st for me!

We spent a day at Monarto a few weeks back and tour guide fella pointed out the local Albino Magpie sitting in a field of bison. I don't ever recall seeing one before either

Walking home from the train station, there was a sulphur-crested cockie on a shrub, eating the red berries. I stopped and whistled a little bit to it, it just looked at me and continued eating, not much more than a metre away.

why is it the crows are the most damn annoying bird on the country roads, sit there nibbling away at some road kill, and take 2 hops sideways as you barrel towards them hoping for a STRIKE

Heard, then saw, some Gang Gangs flying through the trees in the park.

Our Rainbow Bee Eaters have arrived for nesting.
I've been hearing them for the last couple of weeks, they make a croaking sound, but finally saw a pair yesterday.
Hope to see alot more of them after they dig their nests and settle in to hatch and feed the young.

I just referred to my bird book to see what a Rainbow Bee Eater is. Beautiful bird; and they burrow into the dirt to nest? Like a pardalote does?

Thats correct they dig burrows to nest. Beautiful to watch, the sun really catches the colours as the flit around.
For all the criticism golf courses get they provide great habitat for many birds like the Bee Eaters in what would otherwise be a desert of wall to wall houses and developments.

Walked through the park this morning and heard a Gang Gang. Stopped to look and they were in the trees right next to the trail; adults and juveniles, at least 10 birds; some of them were only 3 or 4 metres from the ground. Went back home as fast as I could, got camera, biked it back and they were still there. [I have never tried to post a photo here; on another site that I visit, loading photos could not be easier even for a fuddy-duddy like me.]

Yesterday (Sunday) early morning there was a 'gang' (surely, that must be the appropriate collective term) of Gang Gangs up the end of my street, in and around a large gum tree; 15 (?) birds. Probably the ones I saw in the nearby park the other day.

Sat in the garden yesterday watching a couple of Azure Kingfishers taking turns checking out various hollows in one of our beautiful river reds.

And Saturday, heard a Koel, (NSW sound of summer), rare somewhere as far south as Euroa.

Woke to some early visitors this morning, often hear them opposite in the gardens around the buildings but have never had the pleasure of a personal meet and greet + eat.
