Default 2011 Auto LW Trend air con passenger side only

I am having an issue with my 2011 Auto LW Trend where the air conditioner is only outputting cold air on the passenger side. The driver side is only getting normal non cold air.

Any ideas where I can start to look at fixing this please?

most likely that one of the distribution door actuators has come off. You should be able to reach up behind the dash and check. See what moves, and what doesn't when you adjust temperature and mode.

not sure on focus, but you might have to pop the glove box out?

Check the pollen filter, i have seen a few blocked pollen filters cause wired issues on focus

Where is the pollen filter? Do you mean the cabin filter as that was replaced several months ago?

EDIT - yes it is the cabin filter.

So now what could be causing my air con to only work on the passenger side?

if the problem also exists with hot air its most likely the small motor that opens and closes the doors inside the unit
Usually they make a bit of noise when they cease to engage the cogs

I have removed the front dash radio and air con control area and I did notice that the two wheels above the left right outlets were not connected, don't know why and I always wondered why they did nothing, now I know why. They manually controlled the open-close features through each of those vents, but this did not fix the issue, with both open the passenger is the only side that gets cold air, the driver's side does not :(

I am still looking for other toggles, brackets, motors or swing doors to see what else there is.

I don't want to dismantle much more of the dash. So if you have another suggestion please let me know.

Does the heater matrix have any impact on it? I ask as I had to replace the O-rings and clips for the pipes that go into and out of the heater matrix. Instead of the clips I used heater hoses over the pipes in place of the clips for it to be a more permanent fix. This was done without removing the matrix at all. So I am not sure that is the issue, as I said I did not move the matrix itself, only the pipes when removing and adding new o-rings and the heater hoses.

Unfortunately, I do not recall if the drivers side got cold air before then, as it was winter and had not yet used it.

I am now on a hunt for a possible 3rd swing type door, but I don't know where that is :(

Cheers

So if anyone else is having this issue, get a regas. All fixed

I am confused as you said the otherside had cold air now you seem to be suggesting a regas fixed your problems

Correct, I don't know why, other than others suggested it needed a regas so I thought let's give that a try. The air con guy checked everything else after I listed everything I did, removing the centre dash, radio, vents etc. He said this is common in a 2009 to 2014 focus.

So the passenger side is even cooler now with the driver's side now cool as well. Apparently, and don't quote me as this has been said by others on various places I have asked how to fix this, the driver's side is always not quite as cool as the heater matrix metal hoses are on the driver's side and can affect cooling, in a small way, on the driver's side.

All I have to fix now is the rattle noise I must have created when doing the dash removal and rebuild :(.
