Default atari problem

Hi

just bought a atari 7800 and powers up fine but theres*a problem.

the atari 7800 doesnt*read any cartridges at all, every time you put a cartridge in it doesnt read it, it loads a built in game*asteroids, thats it* *

was wondering what likely reason would be.

would capacitors likely be reason or what would it likely be.

also can you add a hdmi mod or can you only buy the av mod for the 2600/5200/7800 atari and you just buy av to hdmi adaptor if you want hdmi.

the atari doesnt*read any 2600 or 7800 cartridges*and was repaired in 2007 and a standard dc socket was soldered in and the original socket removed

Have had it plugged into a led tv with analog and digital tuner and switched it to analogue, it had picture on one but not on another with same specs.

Thanks

It's the flux capacitor. Have you tried throwing the cartridge at the atari at 88mph?

Wiki History.............

Designed by General Computer Corporation, the 7800 has significantly improved graphics hardware over Atari's previous consoles, but the same Television Interface Adaptor chip that launched with the 2600 in 1977 is used to generate audio. In an effort to prevent the flood of poor quality games that contributed to the video game crash of 1983, cartridges had to be digitally signed by Atari.

The Atari 7800 was first announced by Atari, Inc. on May 21, 1984,[4][5] but a general release was shelved until May 1986 due to the sale of the company.[6] Atari Corporation dropped support for the 7800, along with the 2600 and the Atari 8-bit family, on January 1, 1992.[2]

Maybe all the + electrons have leaked out after such a long time.
These machines have to be serviced by an authorised facility regularly to top up the electrons, and bled in a specific way, to balance the - electrons.
Can't be a home DIY, and unfortunately all the authorised technicians have died of old age.

Is it possible to replenish lost electrons using a microwave?

The cartridge head might need cleaning but then again being such an old game console I would dare say it would need to be serviced by someone who restores these old machines, most likely cost prohibitive unless you into restoring & collecting old game consoles.

Cheers

Yes, they do the same thing for pin ball machines.

Just play the built-in Asteroids game or junk it and buy a working console from eBay for $60.

Or Cash Converters

Or you could download an emulator and play every game for every game console ever made, on your pc.

Some say, that if you put the player in the microwave along with a fresh egg in the shell, the player will be charged at the same as the egg is cooked.

Not sure with that model of Atari, but the ones in the 80s you'd blow (air!) into the cartridge before inserting it.
