Yeah for a rough figure KW x 1.34 = HP and HP x .746 = KW.
I did say rough figures.

horsepower to kilowatts: divide by 4 and multiply by 3
kilowatts to horsepower: divide by 3 and multiply by 4 thats why 300kw equals 400hp |

1kW = 1.34 bhp (brake horse power)
So... say you're working with 250kW. 250 multiply 1.34 = 335hp. Or the other way around... 335 divide 1.34 = 250kW. Then you have PS (Pfederstarke) which is a European measurement often confused with true BHP. It's used in Japan, Germany, France (they call it CV) etc. 1kW = 1.359 PS. 1bhp = 1.014 PS. Pretty self explanitory, but we'll use a famous car like the BMW M5 to work it out... 507 PS = 500 bhp = 373 kW Alot of manufacturers often misquote PS figures as BHP because it yeilds higher results.

Does anyone know the difference between the 2 ways of measuring KW, I know ford uses a different method then holden, I think ford uses DIN, but I don't know what holden uses.
