Hi all. New to this and a tech "no" head, so I hope this works! I'm trying to join a Ford Club in NSW, but I'm having trouble finding one. I drive a '78 LTD, which I want to take off the road for some custom work, then get club rego (is that still done?). Can anyone give me a current contact for a club? Any help would be appreciated - even if it's shooting this wild goose so I can stop wasting my time chasing it!

where in nsw are you, that will depend alot on what club to join. Club rego is still done. I think cars have to be 30 years old though, someone correct this if im wrong.
Welcome to the forum btw.

Not suer of many clubs in western sydney area. There is a nsw GT club that operates from sydney. They offer associate membership for non GT's but im sure there would be another club around sydney that caters more for your specific car.
Somebody will know of one im sure.

Contact the Combined Ford Clubs. They will have one for you. They run the All Ford Day at Warwick Farm so you can wait until then and have a look around if thats easiest.

Yeah, thats a good idea chrispy. Probably the best option.
No doubt there is plenty of club displays there.

Thanks Chrispy. I've been trying to get a number for them - nothing's current. The listing with Shannon's is some poor old bird who's been getting misdirected calls for 3 years now (I sent Shannon's an e-mail, see what comes of it). I'll head out to Warwick Farm. Forgive my ignorance, but when's the next All Ford Day?

Sweet. "Lurch" should be finished by then. Still won't make the 30 year mark, though. Bugger. Who knows, might be a 25year cut off? I used to be a member of the MCOC years ago and a lot of their cars had club rego - mostly 63 1/2's to 70's, though, so that adds up to the 30. I wasn't active for long enough to know what the constraints were - mine was a daily driver, so it wasn't relevant to me, I guess.
Thanks for the info - I'll keep an eye out. Cheers! |

the constraints are pretty much just restrictions on driving it. You can only drive them on advertised club runs or over short distances after tuning them or to mechanics.
Its damn cheap though. You can be a member of more than one club though under the club plate scheme so that maximises your driving. I think your also only supposed to drive around the 10,000k's a year due to limited usage insurace. But that isnt really enforced. Other than that there isnt much to it.

Thanks. The plan is to get involved with a club and just take Lurch on club runs. He's a real head-turner as it is. Black with lots of chrome and a sweet sound. Once the custom work is done he'll look awesome. I love driving it and can't bear the thought of it sitting it the garage - hence the club rego thing. I'm in no rush, though. As it happens rego runs out in August, so I'll see what I can find out on the All Ford Day.
Thanks for your help! |
