Anyone got ideas on what a 185kw EL XR8 is worth?
Auto, 220k kms. Some spares as well. Looking at carsales there is three ranging from $20k-30k, but just interested in the real value. Ps it's been parked in a shed for 8 years.

They are a nice looking car. Not just my favourite of the E series, but one of the best looking XR8s overall.
Should go on to become a real classic. As for value... To you, it's worth whatever it would take to get you to part with it. To the market, it's worth what someone will pay. Problem is that unless somebody is really fixated on the EL, I don't think they've hit that much of an upswing, yet. $10k+ will get you an A or B series XR8, $20k+ an FG

Love the EL XR8 and their a pretty rare bird and 18 months ago it probably worth upwards of 30k, but unfortunately in today’s market, 20k is probably your number.
K’s a fraction high and being an auto brings it back a fraction also, but I’d price it around low to mid 20’s which would give you room to move a bit.

It will have the bits for a manual conversion, double din head unit, pacemaker headers and cats.
It's got EB GT wheels on it at the moment, but will want to keep them. Have five shark fins.

Something like this has a limited market, so it's difficult to peg the price.
It's going to come down to your motivation. I mean don't be one of those dicks that puts an outrageously high price and then writes a paragraph on why they don't have to sell it. Just figure out for yourself how motivated you are to sell it, price it with some wriggle room, and wait and see who bites. A lot of it will come down to condition, and yes the k's are a little high for a collectable. IMHO the E series aren't YET in bracket where people will shell out big bucks for a "project" even if it's a stripped shell. Would be "Collectors" are looking for a "survivor" that's still in good nick. If yours is, and somebody really wants an EL, you could ask for upto $30k. Odds of finding the right buyer at that price are slim, and you'd have to keep it listed long-term. But if you're in no rush, it could work. On the other hand, $10k will get a decent-ish AU. So if you were looking to move it on quickly, and happy to cater to a buying just looking for a cheap/decent XR8, then you'd need to be in that ballpark.

There's a few on marketplace near me for 15-20. They've been there for months and have had price drops.
Theyre niche and an auto v8 is gonna be real hard to move. Real number is 12-15 if its good. And thatd include the 5 speed and the GTs. You could knock a grand off with the shark fins. And add some time. Ironically if you put the 5 speed in it though, because it's not factory, to me at least, it would probably decrease the value. Of course that's the actual sell price, or you can list it for 20k, waste time talking to 35 idiots that send dumb messages at 2am, and then on the off chance they do come round, they just offer you 12 anyway. If you want to sell it, swap the wheels, hose it off, put it up for 10k and sell it in a week. The headers, cats and manual would bring 2500-3 grand to the right person. When I was selling my BFII XR6T ute (was a pretty tidy Lowndes edition) I had one guy quote us redbook value as the base off and started lowballing on every minor issue, I just laughed and told him the price is the price
All depends on how badly you need to sell, tidy low km cars will always pull a premium to the right person, I have a soft spot for the EF EL XR series.. I'm sure many do, but their rarity hasn't really translated to value yet compared to the commodores of the same era

Oh, also have a genuine EF body kit and the larger EL wing. Was one day hoping to find someone willing to swap the bodykit for an EL one.

Don't bother looking at carsales prices its just all the overpriced stuff from the covid bubble that hasn't sold yet. Ive always kept track of the prices on 90s fords as I've got some nostalgia for that generation. Im always amazed at how cheap you can pick up nice 90s xr falcons and they seem to sit around for sale for ages now even at what i would consider a cheap price. From what ive seen if it was mine and i wanted it gone but still not give it away I'd put 15 on it.

Equally hard to value is my Falcon XH11 V8S, rare as old thing and limited market / interest but I’m listing it currently for $14k on Carsales. I accept it’s likely worth waay less, but find another one!

So to buy one you need to have the passion for it, and because of that you'll want a low km manual with options and in great nic. The ones up for 30k mustnt realise another 10 gets you a good coyote mustang with a stick. And 30 would get you into an OK one. As cool as they look, youd have to have rocks in your head to buy the xr8 |

End of the day, as it sits its probably worth $5k. As I said it's been sitting for 8 years, will need all fluids and oils flushed, new tyres, and once its fired up all the gaskets will probably take a dump.
Don't really want to offload it, but if I had to it may need $5k of work to get it on the road. If $30k was guaranteed it would be worth the effort, but not If you'd be lucky to get $10k

I don't know what the current pricing model is for carsales ads, but it used to be that you paid once, and then could keep it listed until sold. So if old mate is willing to wait, to get his price, then there's no harm leaving the ad up.
