Didnt it kind of morph into the V8 Utes series when HQ's became harder/more expensive to get?

One suspects Cav was wanting to replace it with an AU racing series. Well it would help get all those so fugly AU's off the street.

hi
Fully optioned HQ $80G + Although uncommon
Most of the HQ-Z parts are to expensive , as a result most racers are Rare spares catalogue fitted out .
Rare spares is great for racing but Q racing is scrapping all the parts they don`t reproduce by default .
Alot of industry self interest going on
** make no mistake thinking Rare spares are not even reproducing 50% of parts . They are no where near the USA level of percent of repro coverage .

Rear qtrs , major body structure are not reproduced . Most of the small parts might be GM but are not ozzy versions .

Rare Spares short comings coming to a Ford near you

Rare Spares was one of my biggest customers in a previous life, then they shafted me by getting me to do something then sending it to China to be reproduced the sneaky dogs.

They generally just resell others products under their own branding, repackage and resell at way higher prices job.

My interactions over almost 30 years with SWB HQs and their owners have been overwhelmingly negative. The current workshop fiasco will do nothing to shift that balance. LWB owners seemed generally more grounded and pragmatic.

HQ racing is the 'new' FX /FJ 'Humpy' racing.
They disappeared due to natural attrition and lack of spares, and became a collectors item.
The same is happening to HQs, and I doubt if enough early Commodores exist to continue the tradition.
As mentioned, Hyundai Excels are the current el-cheapo, door banging series.
Tesla racing should be be spectacular in about 10 > 15 years time.

I don't think they run under MA (formerly CAMS) much, they run under the more user friendly AASA

There was a race series ruuning EA/EB Falcons versus VN/VS Commodores, not sure what happened to them

That was the early GroupA racing that turned into V8Supercars, which later became V8Supergocarts, which evolved into Supercars, which is now a glorified Sports Sedan formula, using cars which resemble Mustang and Camaro.

Pretty sure there was a 35 odd strong field that came down to TAS on the weekend so it seems well alive, they would be running repro parts by now?

I think they're referring to the Saloon Car series which used slightly modified EA/EB and VN/VPs. They eventually added the AU and VT to the mix.

22 of them raced at Eastern Creek last June at an HSRCA meeting under a MA licence.

There are upcoming meetings in February 25 at One RaceWay, and June at Eastern Creek that they may participate also.

No, it was a separate series running a few years ago

My previous post was a bit tongue in cheek / sarcastic.
I remember the Falcon SS and the V6 Commodore series which were somewhat overwhelmed by the V8Supercars.

A bit of that history..... https://club.shannons.com.au/club/ne...tory-race-car/

An old mate of mine Barry Cassidy was one of the founders of the HQ series.
He was originally a Taswegian and I believe HQ racing actually originated in Tassie hence why it’d still be popular there.
Haven’t caught up with Barry lately but last I heard he was still having a crack at nearly 80!
Was also the very first to ever race an XRGT in Tasmania…
