Hi folks,
Is anyone aware of a stripped screw/bolt removal service in Orange, NSW. I HAVE A 2mm Allan grub screw in a sewing machine that has been munted. I’ve tried jamming a torx driver in, and an easy out. The screw is only 4mm long, so getting purchase is difficult. The other screw on the shaft was severely overtightened, but I was able to get it out in one piece using Allan key and scanner. I have used penetrating oil and freeze spray on the damaged one , without luck. Cheers Steve

No; but what about:
Hidden Talent Orange Sewing Machine Repairs & Service Shop 1 153/157 Peisley St, Orange NSW 2800 (02) 6362 0011 Or drill it out with a reverse (left hand) drill bit (e.g. https://www.amazon.com.au/YUENTOEN-E...s%2C301&sr=8-6) and replace it perhaps.

Thanks,
We are an authorised service agent. This is a case of a knucklehead butchering something. Quote:

Has anyone had experience with Kingchrome quick-outs?
Maybe on a pedestal drill, they could do the job?

I work on a lot of old shitty cars, and use these things:

2mm - if that’s the major diameter - is so small, I’d think you need to make a drilling jig. Hole is blind?

Depending on how munted, munted actually is,
a 3/32" imperial hex key is a little larger then metric 2mm forced in, it might be enough... |

I get the feeling that experience counts in a situation like this…hence my cry for help.

A gentle bit of heating may help if possible. Ed

Heating it gently can also help loosen things up.

Bad result!
After heat and freeze spray, the easy out I used chewed the grub screw out, tith the bottom of it holding fast. The fitting has been ground off and replaced. I’m sure a machinist could have drilled it out, re-tapped and installed a larger grub screw. But at what cost? And the danger of damaging the shaft.
