I have an AU XR8, and my oil pressure guage sometimes stays steady at a bit over half, sometimes goes all way to 7, and sometimes all the way to nothing. This has only really happened for the last 3 days, but has happened on each of those days, at least once.
When it goes to 0 or 7, I also get the oil warning light on, and the audible warning tone. Any ideas on this? The engine temp doesn't change, the cars revs freely enough, and there is no oil leaks and no burning smeel, so I'm at a complete loss. I'm guessing it's not electrical (ie earth), but the sensor may need replacing. Any dieas on where the oil pressure sensor is on an AU V8?

Your onto it JC, its sounds like the sender unit is crook. Have a look at were it comes out of the block, make sure the conector is clean & dry. If that doesn't help The unit might be stuffed & need replacing.
If there was no oil pressure the motor would be rattleing its head off & sould like a tractor..
