Default Sheps WSID results last nite

Had my first ever run down the quarter last nite.
Was vey busy so only did 2 runs......
1st run
R/T .313
E.T 14.861
60' 2.230
MPH 93.51 K/mh 150.49

2nd run
R/T .834
E.T 14.805
60' 2.193
MPH 93.32 K/mh 150.19

I was very happy as my AU1 XR8 has 3in cat back exh. K&N filter and Bluepower generic flash tune ( which is going back for a little more tweaking as we speak ).
What I cant understand is on my second run is how the numbers work.
My CAR Other lane
R/T .834 .595
60' 2.193 2.224
330' 6.201 6.251
660' 9.531 9.524
MPH 74.50 75.44
1000' 12.389 12.354
ET 14.805 14.788
MPH 93.32 90.36
I was quicker to 60 and 330 foot, by 660' hes quicker and with more MPH, same to 1000' and he gets me on ET but my MPH is afair bit quicker than his.
Keeping in mind I am very new to this.
Any way had a top nite and met STIDDY. Good to see you there mate, let me know when you get the box fixed and we can organise a nite up there.

Nice, they are good numbers from a pretty stock AU1 XR8 and a long-distance tune. Its a bugger you only got two runs in, i heard it was pretty busy out there.

With respect to the numbers of the guy next to you...the only thing I can think of is that they backed off the throttle (or hit a rev/speed limiter?) just before the finish line.

Its a shame Stiddy hurt his box, was hopping he might run a PB in the colder air and with his shorter diff gears.

Do you know what Chris is adjusting in the tune?

Will be good to see you out at WSID one of these days, hopefully with a Bluepower tune in my AU as well ;)

Yeah, hes pulling a bit more fuel out of it. The A/F ratio was around 12.4 in the lowe half of the rev range so hopefully that should give a little bit more.

Nice work Shep.14.8 is a good run. Being your first time it gives a clearer understanding how the car is going. Put it this way oin the street you would whip his *** but on the track he appears to have a bit more power in the second half of the track.I bet you had fun though?

Were you using a wideband O2 sensor at the track, or was the A/F measured on a dyno? When do you plan on heading to WSID next?

Its addictive this drag racing stuff...

sounds good STIDDY, I wanted to run against a similar car so the run that u saw was against a VS SS commodore but I didnt want to red light which was why I took it a bit easier on the launch timing but seeing that white commodore just a fraction in front made me wish I had of launched earlier just to try and beat him to the line!!!! ( even though my ET still would have been slower )
USELESS , it was an unreal nite and I have to get up there earlier to get more runs in.( coming south of wollongong dosent help ) but that M7 makes it easier.
XR8UTE the AF/r was done on the dyno the nite before. ( tuesday )
It had 142.5 rwKW and 435nm which the guy said would equate to about 230 kw on a dynodanamics machine. I dont know..... His was a dynolog.
Anyhoo , probably be back up in about three weeks coz next 2 are busy

p.s humidity last nite was 92% temp 15 deg

It stands for Western Sydney International Dragway and its right next to the eastern creek racetrack. Its an awesome venue, makes the old drags on the eastern creek track look horrible.
Hope to see u there some time.

I get a 14.8 with a soft launch/bog off 2500 rpm, but when I hook up alright the rewards are there. Your 60ft times are good just lacking some grunt.

You guys have two accessible tracks....

WSID gets packed and takes forever between runs.

Nice going there Shep.
To possibly answer your question on the difference in trap speeds on your run.
WSID has a problem (and have apparently admitted via email to someone I know) with the trap speed timers in the right hand lane.
Generally for our type street cars the right lane reads 2 - 2 1/2 mph slower than the left lane.
Every pass Wade and myself have done with similar incrementals to each other, has been about 2 1/2 mph slower in right lane compared to the left. (Hundreds of passes.)
We have each done quicker final 320' in right lane but come with slower mph than each other. (If that makes sense.)
Your final 320' was .018 sec quicker than than the other car, so that should equate to between 1/2 - 1 mph difference, not 3 mph.
A lot of the regulars at WSID know of this problem.
I have been told that WSID only take the extra time to set it up properly for the big meets and not street meets, which sucks.

I believe my 12.91 PB (done in right lane) should be just over 108 mph (calculating from last 320') but my slip says 106, so thats the way it is.

P.S. If you tell me that you were in the right lane all the theories go out the window. LoL.

WSID are supposed to limit the cars competing to 170 so everyone gets a fair go but with no limit and the burnouts it gets a bit frustrating at times.

Cheers,

Chris

Yeah, be happy, we don't even have a functioning tree here at AIR and there is word that it will not be fixed before next year. :(

yeah, Chris ,on that run I was in the right lane so according to your info my trap speed should be a bit quicker which makes my time look even more difficult to understand.
1st pass was in left lane. 2nd pass was in the right.

She is a manual but im sure having an auto would be quicker just stalling it up and launching. If you had more runs I could experiment and get a feel for how much traction there is but I didnt want to waste a run spinning off the line. Theres always next time.......hopefully soon.

It was pretty packed wednesday night, I was actually suprised..
I think everyones rushing in for the cold air now.

I dunno shep, almost stock car, id say the manual would be faster.. but if seriously modded then it would be auto for sure..

Will have to get out there again soon
Considering what mods you have 14.8 isnt slow..

Hahaha that will give someone something to think about. He is a physics teacher who does a lot of racing. Unless he has been on WSID's case so much that they finally fixed it. LoL.

14.8 @93.5 is excelent ET and good MPH. In the AU XR* series the manual is quicker than the auto usually by 0.3-0.5 seconds in the ET and the TS (MPH) about the same.

I have the wheels October 1998 test of the New XR range and they got a best time of 14.997 for the qtr mile with a manual. the manual XR8 5 speed weighed in at 1624kg auto 1657kg so the auto is heavier and has one less gear for the qtr.
