I wish I still had my Road and Track magazine from a few years back. It was one of the first real tests on a McLaren F1.

http://usedmagazines.com/titles/RoadAndTrack/1997/
(the one at the bottom)

The guy who owned it bought it through a US compliance company called Ameritech (somewhere on the east coast, Boston I think), and drove the thing all the way back to Texas (like 1,500 miles) with his wife on delivery.

Drives it every single day to work, how about that for a "daily driver"?

I can quite believe the Mclaren F1 could be used day to day, in the first Top Gear test back in the early 90s Tiff Needel drives it around the city quite a bit, goes shopping, golfing etc.

Yeah, won't enter in to the discussion of what awesome cars we have or haven't been at the "helm" of, but what makes you say that a Z06 isn't suitable as a daily driver? I know a guy who daily-drove a stripped out XC coupe with a 408 stroke Clevo, powerglide and 4.11's for years. Christ, even my poor old dad drove a dodgy 25th anniversary Countach every day for 2 or 3 months.

Steffo - What're your terms of reference for a 'daily driver'? LPG, air con and room for a drum kit in the back?

The BS meter is off the dial with smoke coming out the vents, one of your best.

LPG auto 911 was it?

Sorry for not impressing you Mr 1 post. Like I care what you think is true or not.

I say its not suitable because of the very, very, very harsh ride, and the general race-track biased nature of the car. I never said you can't daily drive one, you can, in the same way that you can daily drive a 911 GT3 or GT2 if you want to (where I went to highschool, one person's father picked him up daily in a 911 GT2), but it's not the most sensible idea.

While thats a nice sentiment gozza, it doesn't really relate to somebody with a post count of 1 knowing anybody by this forum along and passing judgement on anybody.

So Campo, rather then mouth off, how about you tell us what you drive, how old you are etc etc!

Lets jus say it has 2 mor cylinders, and lots more KW than what you drive.

As for steffo's imaginary friend from school, in the poorer parts of blacktown, a 911 not car-jacked. Too Funny.

Show us the some of the shots from the digi-cam steffo, rather than the internet trawl your famous for. Mates and uncles all unaccounted for most in foreign lands, so why stuck in blacktown do all these rich friends actually exist cos if they do they must really dislike you. :>

I didn't know trolls lived to 48 years old.

You still don't mention what you drive. Ooh, you've got 2 more cyclinders then my XR6.... whoop-de-frikkin-do! My ute's quicker then plenty of V8's. But at least I don't hide what I drive. To be honest, steffo's pics hold up better then your innuendo.

Who are you to comment on my financial situation when you have no idea who I am nor do you know anything about me? Is having one reasonably wealthy person in the family, not necessarily wealthy enough to bail the rest of their extended family out of any financial grief, not allowed now? Who are you to judge? A word of advice, if you'd like your stay on this forum to be a lengthy, pleasant and respected one, quieten down, and don't mouth off to a veteran member, no matter what their reputation be.

Personally, I'm not a fan of Corvettes. I remember reading an article from Peter Robinson in Wheels about the ability of the C4 Corvette to corner at 1.5Gs. They then spent the rest of the model life adjusting the suspension to make it more bearable. Besides, if the build quality is anything like a Dodge Viper then I'd stay well away.

Whilst some say there's no substitute to cubic inches, I think Colin Chapman was more on the ball.

But Colin Chapmans cars were known as death traps to some.

Way too fragile.
