Is the 302 Cleveland fitted to an XE any good? Is 350 - 400HP is your aim what 's the best thing to do? Is it better to replace with a 351?

starting with a 351 is a better option torque wise but there is no reason a 302 can't make 350-400hp. Decent headwork, camshaft, inlet manifold, exhaust and carb will set you on your way easy.

If you have a 302 thats fine, it isnt hard to turn that into a 351 anyway and go from there.

You can stroke the 302 with the 351 crank shaft

I notice when you guys do any modifications to a car you all ways seem to do a cam, lots of head work, extractors etc etc. Why is it you never seem to do any thing with the block,? why dont you bore it out and put bigger pistons in. Wouldnt that give you more/instant power.?

For the original post, I've always thought XD and XEs and 460BB go together. On the topic of big blocks, check out this 21.5 litre 4cyl. |

So what is the difference between a factory 302 and a factory 351 block.? Is there more "metal/engine" there in a 351.?
