Default Inrernet Explorer Problem....

ok, have a slight problem
i got another puter from a mate, as my mum has been pestering me to get another to have networked so she can use the net when i want to and vice versa.

anywayz, only had this one on the net for a few hours before this pops up, internet explorer closes and leaves me unable to get on the net.....

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Program C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Iexplore.exe
A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the programs internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated

ive since transfered firefox over to it, hence how im on the net now.

just wondering if anyone knows what the problem is and how to go about fixing it... - need ie for hotmail still from what i can gather

I had IE constantly crashing on me and a moved to firefox. I revisited the IE problem and I solved it by uninstalling the Sun Java client.

I'm a happy multi-browser, browser again.

I'm pretty sure it's some crappy spyware/malware causing your problem, Ad-aware and CCleaner are order of the day.

G'day MADNC_8,
Sorry don't know diddly squat about IE which is prolly why I've been using Firefox and it's the shit bro, I'm pretty sure you can bookmark Hotmail on Firefox too, I think it's the same as doing favorites on IE.

CCleaner - http://ccleaner.com/

Might be an idea to make sure Ad-Aware is updated and run it in safe mode if it'll let you ( press F8 whilst the PC is doing it's POST/memory test - Before the windows splash screen pops up ), If that doesn't fix it, maybe download IE 6.XX from the microsoft site and re-install it. ?

Well reading this thread in Firefox, having google open in IE and checking your prob in IE, I say that it is a problem that has been addressed in the numerous security updates that MS puts out. You could try downloading from Windows Update in Firefox (apparently there is an extension for it to work) as see if that fixes it..
