Gum In Carpet!!!!

one of my idiot mates spread gun into the passenger front carpet!!!!

anyone know how to get that stuff out!!!

soo annoying, the car is immaculate inside except for this ugly patch :S

Get some freeze spray, freeze the gum and try and get as much as off with a sharp fork and knife. If you don't have access to spray use an ice cube.

Then go onto the eucalyptus oil and get as much off with this.

Then try nail polish remover (very very sparingly, and don't get it on any painted surfaces.

Theres also a product called Goo Remover, not sure how good this is though.

very good i tested almost every product that woolworths sells and well most a actually really good
anyways ive used this and it does work..but as mentioned above you have to make that gum hard and then pick it off ice or that freeze stuff..then eucalyptus oil, i wouldnt use any of those solvents or thinners as youll just destroy the carpet
then use shampoo Head and shoulders is great especially for removing spray paint out of hair..and a bit of water and that should clean the carpet LOL
before you say anything ive used shampoo on my car mats and the colour thingy one is actually quite good brings back some colour
shampoo not just for hair!

haha after the gum is removed well it worked for me laugh all you like but my mats are clean..and they smell nice too

Stoner's Xenit is great for removing gum from carpet. You can get it from http://www.waxit.com.au/ in QLD & http://www.finalinspection.com.au/ or http://www.concoursecarcare.com.au/ in Victoria. I'm not sure where else sells it but if you don't live near by they all do mailorder.

A can of pressurised lighter fluid / butane gas (used for filling cigarette lighters) can be used to freeze it / WITH EXPREME CAUTION / , get a spray nozzle off the top off any spray paint can / clean the nozzle thouroughlly / and put it on the nozzler of the lighter fluid can . Spay a quick couple of sprays onto the effected area to freeze it / DO THIS WITH EXREME CAUTION / ENGINE OFF / ALL DOORS OPEN IN THE CAR / WELL VENTILATED AREA / NO SPARKS / NO FLAMES / NO CIGARETTES ETC ETC. Intially you will only need about 3 quick taps/spay of the nozzle to freeze it instantlly / so its pretty safe anyway and the gas output is minimal, I've used this method many times to get gum out of carpet , even to get gum out of my hair years ago ..lol

For your own sake & safety, if you feel unsafe using gas / or feel un-confident about such procedures.. then do NOT use this method , use another method. ;)

I removed gum with eucalyptus spray by Bosisto's, it is also marketed as a spot stain remover.Available at your local supermarket. Picked most of the gum off and then sprayed a cloth with the eucalyptus oil and wiped and wiped and wiped! Try an inconspicuous spot to test first if the oil removes the colour from the carpet/seat cloth. People who leave gum on seats in public places should be neutured.

I removed it with citris cleaner, but I heard that big Kev's goo remover works pretty good too.

Narrrr Goo Remover is top stuff, but maybe test a little bit of the product on the carpet underneath the seat so in case it's not anygood n screw up ur carpet u wont be able to see it! And Big Kev is very good as well!

Thats the first thing i do when i get a new car , nothing worse than tying to get all the sand out of ya carpet after a trip the beach ( easier to shake them off outside the car and vacume them....der ..lol ) .... or worse still , step in dog shishkabobs and not realize, then smudge it into ya precious carpet !, leaving a delicious lasting smell for weeks !..lol

i got a mate, he's mauritian, apparently that explains it. but he has floor mats in his car, and when it rains he puts additional PLASTIC floor mats on top of the normal floor mats in the car so they dont get dirty or wet. so he is protecting the floor mats that protect the carpet :|

You're obviously an Aussie LOL! Try wog families that have plastic all over the furniture to keep it in good knick!

That's commitment to keeping stuff clean. Acutally it's pretty darn sad really, all that money for good furniture only to not actually see or enjoy it. I guess that's what happens when people from the old "poor" world experience a bit of comfort and money. Sad really.

which reminds me of something else... When people get new small or big lcd or plasma tv's, I've heard the comment sooooooooo many times ..

"Why does my picture look sorta blurry and not as nice as it did in the shop" ?

And im like " Cos' you still have the clear static plastic protective cover on the screen , peel it off ! " ...lol

And then there are some that know about it but leave it on to protect the screen , whats the point in a nice pic/screen if you cant see it properlly ! .

Some people , makes ya wonder ..lol
