The blue Torana... wouldn't happen to be a forced six by any chance? Or a hatchback with a 308/5 speed/banjo diff?

The hatch is slow from memory, more of a "fun/project" car (but it's a hoot to go for a spin in, the driver took me for a few laps around Morwell once). But the sedan... well well, that thing is awesome :P

I can't make it. Again. Due to exams dammit. Oh, and that airfield road has got to be the worst road ever! Now I know why daily-drivers are trailered there, because that damn road can shake ANYTHING apart!

Here's the details:

Same with me. I would have gone but I have exams on Monday and Tuesday. This time of year absolutely sucks.

Dunno about average numbers, but if you wouldn't wait longer than 5 mins in line before you're at the start line

I've only been once, and the launch area had a new compound on it and was crap. They might have replaced it since then (I think they were testing it out). I only managed a 10.3, with consistent 10.4s. That was with stock gears also.

You should manage a 9.something I reckon ;)

Cops in Traralgon gawked at me & Pilch when we peeled off the highway in front of them with massive drag numbers on our rear windows :P hehe

Well, it's a race meet rather than a test 'n' tune, so it looks like your window of opportunity for doing some runs would be 11 to 2.

Isn't there a Bairnsdale dude with a yellow VL who always fails scruitineering there?

Pretty much ;)

When I was there I got owned by an atmo gemini, I beat an LS1 ute, beat a V8 VL, won/lost against Pilch, and got absolutely deee-stroyed by a kingswood ute.

Luck of the draw, it really depends who you line up against.

14 seconds now? Hmm him & his mum have woken it up then! :

It's got a T5 in it too from memory.

So how dya know him? I don't know him well, in fact I've only bumped in to him about 4 times, but I used to knock around with his mate "Atlee" a lot.

Oh ok.

Well the one I'm talking about is a mother/son project, they're both Torana mad, and it's got a 308, T5, banjo diff (it's a bit of a handful on the back roads in the hills!), and a drop tank. Paintjob isn't the best, & it's a dark blue colour. Has typical 70s black interior.

Sounds tough as, but I think it could only do 16s (mid 10s down the 1/8).

Yes well it was a good day at the drags apart from the weather being freezing

I was placed into the 10-10.5 Groupe and got into the Final with that Blue Torona you are talking about at the moment, I bet her (it was a chick driving) by about a cars lenght only to find out when i got back to the pits that i had broken out of my time catagory by running a 9.91 ( i wasnt aloud to run any lower than 10 flat)

So the trophy was awarded to here by Default

Sucks *** but hey rules are rules

Track was absolutly house (no1 could get traction all day)

I was subdued to launching at 2000rpm just to get traction with 18psi tyers!! usally at calder/heathcote i can launch at about 3500rpm and not wheelspin

was a good turnout with about 60 cars turning out to race

Sounds like you had a great time mate!

Hopefully I can attend a future meet. Bad luck about breaking out but I guess that happens. 9.91 with traction issues isn't too shabby
